Originally delivered to Hinsdale Motor Cars of Hinsdale, Illinois, the 944's odometer currently shows 128,555 miles, which is respectable for a car that rolled off the line as a 1989 model. The Guards Red single-stage exterior paint retains very good gloss and consistency across the entire body, including the boxed fenders, flag-style side-view mirrors, and sunroof panel. Properly maintained, there is no limit to how long Porsche paint can look great, as this 944 demonstrates. Factory-applied, anti-stone-chip coatings remain applied forward of the rear wheels. The Porsche-crest hood emblem, rear-deck, black 944 emblem, and lower-rear Porsche lettering are all in place. A fitted, Porsche-branded car cover (a reliable sign of fastidious-owner care) is included in the sale. Black treatments surrounding the cabin glass and on the door handles are in excellent condition; there was no chrome on 944 bodies. Door trim appears virtually as-new with original-style factory speaker grilles in place. The factory-optioned leather-trimmed steering wheel-identical to that used on 911 models-has been superbly maintained. The full complement of analog instruments are in place on the new-style dashboard seen on later 944 models. An upgraded, replacement Blaupunkt Aspen audio head unit has perfectly replaced the factory Reno radio. The console hosts the shifter for the 5-speed manual transmission, sunroof switches, sliding-door over a perfectly unused ash tray, and armrest with storage. Cabin floors (including the cargo area) are covered in black carpeting in very good condition with matching black carpet mats featuring red-embroidered Porsche logos. Under the hood, the 2.7-liter Porsche inline 4-cylinder commands a clean, detailed, well-ordered, and complete engine bay. No aftermarket modifications are noted. Viewed from below, the chassis is straight and complete with no sign of damage as might be the case from too-aggressive driving styles or extensive track use. All components are properly in place.
