Vehicle Description
This 1966 Ford Mustang is instantly memorable because of the slick
custom paint. But as you dig deeper, you discover a full restomod
with a fuel-injected V8, an A/C interior, four-wheel disc brakes,
overdrive transmission, and much more. So when you want a classic
that's both an instantly recognizable icon and absolutely distinct,
you know you need to get to know this award-worthy pony.
The Purple Heart Metallic is an eye-catching custom color that
instantly announces this is something special. And with less than
400 miles on the full build, there's a clearcoat luster that
radiates a terrific shine. The lighter purple stripes are painted
on for permanence. They added definition to the sporty kick-up of
the rear fender, and this also has the cool strobe style that came
on some great 1960s muscle machines. This signals a true custom
that also respects its history. So you have some cool updates on
the classic style with a GT350R front bumper and billet grille, and
the modern 17-inch US Mags wheels remind us of the classic Shelby
wheels. And there's a GT-style dual exhaust coming out of the rear
valance. While the rear panel looks smooth and opaque, it will
light up with sequential tail lights just like the best 1960s Fords
did. But while some pieces were inspired by the past, this fresh
restomod also utilizes the latest technology to make for its own
style. So you have LED headlights with purple halos. The door
handles are shaved and now work on a remote key fob. Even the door
mirrors were taken away for sleekness, and now you have side view
cameras!
The interior continues the full custom treatment with the right
touches of classic style. You have the classic low-back parchment
front bucket seats, and the rear seat and door panels also match.
Plus, the carpet, headliner, and trunk all coordinate in nice
shades of tan and brown. And from the moment you slip into the
driver's seat you can tell this one is very different. The center
console is a custom piece that's more useful with a cup holder and
padded armrest. Your dash is a full custom piece that houses the
air conditioning controls, side view camera screens, and
touchscreen infotainment system that includes the AM/FM stereo and
backup camera. And there are also good driver-oriented upgrades,
like the sports steering wheel and white-faced Marshall gauges with
speedo and tach.
The engine bay continues this attractive custom appearance. It's a
thoughtful setup with purple painted inner walls that show off the
special motor in the middle. This is a 302 cubic inch V8 -
something larger than the factory ever offered in '66. And fuel
injection was also decades away. Not only do you get more
displacement, but also there are more go-fast goodies. It's a
roller motor with 10.5 compression pistons, Ford Performance F303
camshaft, hydraulic lifters, a custom intake, and a 1999 Explorer
computer with Moates Quarterhorse programming board. The custom
powerhouse is also supported by the right pieces, like a serpentine
belt setup, a Champion aluminum radiator with electric fans, and
the battery in the trunk for better weight distribution. Stainless
headers add power and rumble as they feed the H-pipe dual exhaust
and Flowmaster mufflers with a terrific growl. The V8 is mated to a
four-speed automatic transmission that gives you good ratios for
power and is comfortable for all-day overdrive cruising. In fact,
it's made to be a solid driver, and that is why it includes an
upgraded tubular A-arm front end, power steering, and four-wheel
disc brakes.
