For Sale: 1989 Honda Civic in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

We love a car like this 1989 Honda Civic 25X. It's a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) car that was independently imported, and so that those who are really paying attention will recognize the added features and power that we never had the opportunity to ever get at our local Honda dealer. So dig into all the details on a useful and surprisingly affordable way to drive something quite distinguished.

Even if people don't immediately see the right-hand drive, there are some clues that this one is something different. Our Civics didn't have callouts for the motor or fender turning lights. The color-matched bumpers and mirrors are the kind of premium detail we really only saw on the sporty Si version. And the black trim strip that fully encircles the body seems more thoughtful than the USA cars. In fact that black goes well with the window trim and upgraded wheels to look terrific against the exterior silver. And more than just the JDM style, there's a fundamental appeal in a Honda. This generation Civic earned a nearly indestructible reputation, and the way the panels align today reflects the well-engineered and hardy nature. The paint is believed to be the factory application, and it retains a clean look and a good shine. So the first impression will show off a quality car.

It's unknown if the odometer (in kilometers) reflects the full mileage, but the interior certainly has the look and feel of a low mileage car. It's clean and well-detailed inside with correct checkerboard velour, rear headrests, and the privacy apron for the rear hatch. And because this is a right-hand drive JDM car, we bet you're thinking about all the fun you can have going down the road where others think the "driver" seat is empty. Another fun thing about a car like this is how much you realize the difference between the USA and Japan. This Civic was sold here mostly as an economy car. But the Japanese home market had the potential for a more premium placement. So this car is loaded with power windows, power mirrors, power steering, an electric rear defogger, and provisions for air conditioning (it likely needs a recharge.) This has a four-speed automotive transmission for a true easy cruising nature, but more than just everyday appeal, a car like this feels quite sporty. The upgraded Mugen steering wheel sits ahead of a full gauge package with a large speedo and tach.

Under the hood is the hardy 1.5-liter Honda D-series motor. As the callouts decals on the door suggest, this is a 16-valve dual carburetor motor. This was a more powerful option in Japan, and it was also more powerful than the DX trim hatchback you usually found on the streets in the USA. These cars are terrific for upgrading, and so this has been given performance suspension pieces, including desirable pieces like the Skunk2 Pro-ST Coilovers and 16-inch Enkei wheels. Most of the stock components come with the sale, too, but we bet you'll just be using this as your base to add even more fun. After all, these are light nimble cars with a fully independent suspension and power brakes with discs up front. So the fun in owning one is all about enjoying the drive today and unlocking even more driver enjoyment from one of the most robust and versatile Honda platforms ever.

The sale comes complete with service manuals, stock components, a spare key, and even JDM decals. It all makes for something distinct, fun, and different - all offered for an affordable price. Call today!!!
