For Sale: 1965 Chevrolet Corvair in Chubbuck, Idaho

Vehicle Description

This fun little driver is set up for go, not for show.  The individual air filters allow the fuel system to breathe better than the old spider system (which has been retained).  Since the vehicle breathes better, it runs better and accelerates faster.  I acquired the car as it was being prepped for full on racing at an oval track in Hastings, Nebraska.  The rear seat had been removed, along with duct work for the heater.  I assume this was for weight saving measures.  I had the rear seat reinstalled, and at the same time had seat belts for 4, driver and passenger positions.  All the body panels, exterior chrome and badging are dent free.  The car has had a repaint from it's factory color of regal red to a brighter red, the name of which I was never told.  The interior red portions of the dash as well as the door panels retain the original regal red color.  The front seats are knock off Porsche buckets, which provide greater comfort and support in tight cornering.  The car has been kept in my shop during my 4 years of ownership.

Technical data includes the following: newer radial tires on alloy wheels, tire pressures are 32 psi for rear and 22 psi for front.  This improves handling, especially at higher speeds.  Electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, and positrac have been added for better performance.  Only ethanol free fuel (91 octane) and high zinc racing oil have been used during my ownership.  The oil is Valvoline VR1, 20/50.  The oil has been changed when putting the vehicle away in winter, and when beginning the driving season.  Star-Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment has been used also, to help maintain fuel quality. The valves were adjusted 11/1/2021.

Interior Items: the headlights, turn signals, windshield wipers and gauges all work, the radio works but there is no antenna.  The rear seat is in excellent condition, the front bucket seats are also in like new condition with the exception of a wear spot on the driver's side where it is rubbed on entry.  No hole has developed yet, but eventually it could.  I have tried to avoid rubbing that spot when I enter the vehicle.  The headliner is in good condition and the carpet is like new.

The odometer is broken and shows 64,818 miles.  I have owned the car for 4 years and I don't think I have put more than 1000 miles on it during that time.  When I have driven the car in 90 degree heat,  the temperature gauge registers 300 degrees, during the spring and fall, the temperature registers approximately 275 degrees.  The paint being a respray, is in good condition, however, there is a quarter sized flaw near the side mirror and a very slight overspray on the passenger window (I just noticed it this year).  All glass is in good condition with no cracks or chips.

The car really runs well.  The transmission functions flawlessly (except for driver error).  And heads turn often when I drive.  As far as leaks, it does leave a few drops of oil on the garage floor.  It's a Corvair!
