This 1972 Ford F100 Custom Sport is a really cool and rare vehicle
to find. This is a California truck that is a factory short box and
factory 4WD. Something you don't see together very often from this
era. This truck spent its life in California and while it is not a
frame off nut and bolt restoration, it is a nice restored truck
that has had a lot of work done to it and would consider it a
selective restoration. There are probably around 4-5,000 miles on
the truck since the work was done according to the last owner. The
body on this truck is clean and straight and since it was a
California truck there are no rust issues and there never have
been. The underside looks amazing and was painted an detailed when
restored. The paint is in great condition and looks really nice.
This truck originally was originally brown and yellow and it was
repainted Blue Metallic. There is no sign of the original paint
anywhere. The bumpers, grille, and trim appear to be original and
are in really nice shape.
The interior is also very nice. When restored it had new carpet,
new seat upholstery, new headliner, new dash, new steering wheel
with steering column, new instrument bezel, and new
weatherstripping. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn
signals are working. The wipers and the heat work but the horn does
not work. They did the power window kit to the truck when it was
restored and they recovered the door panels at that time.
Mechanically this truck runs and drives great. The engine is
believed to the original 5.9L 360 V8 and the Vin Code shows this
truck did come with a 360 V8. The previous owner did state the
engine was rebuilt when restored but we did not get a receipt.
Based on everything we see we do believe that was the case. The
engine is pretty stock with dual exhaust. The transmission is the
np435 4 Speed manual and it shifts nice with a good clutch. It is
mated to the Dana 24 transfer case and the 4WD works like it
should. It has a Ford 9" rear end with 4.10 gears and a factory
locking differential. The front end is a Dana 44 with 4.10 gears.
They added power steering and power steering and power brakes to
make this truck much nicer to drive. Cool truck! Rare truck!!
