For Sale: 1952 Mercury Monterey in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

STK 3194 1952 Mercury Monterey

This 1952 Mercury Monterey convertible comes to us from the collection of the late Dennis Carpenter, the well-respected Ford restoration parts supplier here in North Carolina. This Merc was in his possession for over 50 years. The '52 Mercury models benefited from an extensive redesign effort that introduced an entirely new body profile, curved window glass and all new grille/brightwork. The Monterey became its own unique model and was offered in a variety of body styles. A convertible model was added, but less than 5,300 were produced in '52 - this is a rare Merc. This Monterey convertible was partially restored by the Carpenter team back to its original glory. The exterior was professionally re-sprayed Mercury Vassar Yellow and is in very good condition. There is a generous allotment of chrome, rear fender skirts, 15x5.5" steel wheels w/full chrome discs and wide-white Remington bias-ply rubber. The original interior is upholstered in Black/Yellow leather. Power windows and power front seats were available options in '52 and this Monterey convertible is equipped with both. Upholstery, door cards, tinted window glass, steering wheel, carpets - everything is in very good condition. The classic '50s dashboard holds a full compliment of gauges along with the original radio (currently not functioning). A power operated convertible top is in excellent condition. The Monterey is powered by Mercury's 255ci flathead V8 that was rated at 125hp in 1952. The engine was rebuilt in the early '80's and a dual exhaust system was added. The big flathead runs beautifully. Everything under the hood looks original and the factory 6-volt electrical system works fine. It is backed by a 2-speed Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission. The chassis is equipped with front coil/rear leaf spring suspension and the braking system is manual 4-wheel drum. This rare Monterey convertible is an amazing, mostly-original example of the early '50s Mercury Monterey brand and belongs in your garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
