Introduced to widespread acclaim at Geneva in 1989 and released for
sale to great anticipation for 1990, the all-new, fourth-generation
Mercedes-Benz SL replaced the long-running and successful R107
models of 1971-89. Internally coded R129 and riding a 99-inch
wheelbase, the new SL featured handsomely chiseled bodylines,

model-name change and detail updates from 1994 onward resulted in
the renamed SL300/SL500/SL600 models. Fast, solidly built, and
