For Sale: 1964 Pontiac GTO in Palmetto, Florida

Vehicle Description

1964 Pontiac GTO PHS Documents Nocturne Blue

Why This Car Is Special

We have a ground up restored, laser straight, California 1964 GTO that sold at Barrett Jackson in 2015 here in our showroom at Skyway Classics. It is documented matching numbers, having its 389 engine stamped with the 6 digit EUN, engine unit number, that is listed on its build sheet, upgraded with Tripower, 4-speed transmission, and factory Safe-T-Track (posi-traction) rear end. It also has the VIN stamped into its M20 transmission and the axle ratio is stamped on the inner side of the right rear axle housing.

We think this is probably one of the best ones in the country and words cannot describe how nice this GTO is as you must see it to believe it.

It has tons of documentation with it including the PHS paperwork, Build Sheet, receipts, and so much more.
This is an immaculate restored GTO and it looks absolutely better than new. It was made at the Fremont, CA plant on April 23, 1964 (4/23/64) then shipped to the dealer, Balestra Pontiac, Redwood City, CA. This is the typical car a new car Pontiac dealership would put on its sales lot-- 2-door post coupe, 4 bbl, 4 speed transmission, redline tires, Saf-T-Track (positraction), tinted windshield and tachometer. If a buyer wanted tripower, the setup would be put in the trunk.

Mechanical Specs

Our GTO is a documented numbers matching car that looks as it did when it left the factory in Fremont California.

It has had the correct date coded Tri-Power System added (it was originally a four-barrel carb), the Pontiac blue painted correct date coded block, heads, and intake, blue correct valve covers, factory exhaust manifolds, factory correct tags, decals, and markings on the frame and chassis, updated Griffin radiator with correct Pontiac top plus a electric fan so it runs cool, dual exhaust, and power goes to the just rebuilt original 4-speed transmission and to the factory original Posi rear end with 3:23 gears.

One look at the underside of our GTO and you can see the quality restoration of the frame and all related components. It rides on Pontiac factory steel wheels with Pontiac Motor Division (dog dish) center caps and Redline tires. The rumbling exhaust note exits from the chrome splitters and sounds fantastic.

Interior

The interior has been completely redone in factory correct black vinyl. It has the twin front bucket seats and matching rear seat, factory working AM Radio, and original optional factory woodgrain 4-spoke steering wheel, 4-speed Hurst shifter and ivory ball on top, black carpeting, door panels, and everything looking new since this is a real time-capsule of a GTO.

Exterior

Our 1964 GTO has had a near concours, nut and bolt restoration, and it shows. The styling for 1964 was understated but crisp, and ours is presented in deep Nocturne Blue paint, complemented by the black interior
.
The exterior features a repaint of Nocturne Blue, chrome bumpers, unique one year only factory correct original hood with scoops, "GTO 6.5 Litre" emblems, excellent stainless trim and chrome bumpers, laser-straight body lines, and great fitment.

This is the car that was soon popularized in song, "Lil GTO" and marketed to the growing younger market creating an entirely new niche of vehicles we now call muscle cars.

Conclusion

Considered the true original street performance muscle car, the 1964 GTO, like the car offered here at Skyway Classics, remains "The Great One" to many enthusiasts.

This car has the right stuff featuring a concours-grade nut-and-bolt restoration with the original numbers matching drivetrain including the correct numbers matching 389 CI V-8 engine, newly rebuilt 4-speed transmission, and added correct date coded Tri-Power System.

Our GTO is immaculate and is the right GTO for you if you are a very serious collector. Buy this one in confidence as it is one of the best you will ever.
