Vehicle Description
The 1971 AMC Javelin SST wanted that ideal mix of luxury and
sporty. This example shows that style exceptionally well with its
sleekly restored paint, distinct interior, and even nice comforts.
And this is a highly documented classic that spent time with a true
collector. So it has an impressive presentation right down to the
correct V8.
The Limelight Green paint looks awesome, and that's because this
car has all the right pieces going for it. The under 33k miles on
the odometer are believed to represent the full actual mileage, and
a comprehensive restoration in the late 1990s (we even have a copy
of the car's feature in Muscle Car Enthusiast magazine documenting
it.) If this sounds like a car that received exceptional care, then
you'd be right. It's been in a collector's family for decades, and
the new 1971 Javelin was a true stunner when it hit the streets.
The long hood, fenders that bring extra emphasis to the wheels,
sunken rear decklid with a hint of flying buttress, and
form-hugging chrome bumpers - this is truly a unique style that
also signals power. And we love all the details, right down to the
white roof and classic American Motor hub caps. And it's great to
have this presented so correctly because those who know their AMC
history understand how rare it is to find an exceptional one over a
half-century later. The premium Javelin SST had an annual
production figure that equaled only about one month of the premium
Chevy Malibu coupe's total 1971 production.
The hint of white on the roof also gives you a preview of the white
upholstery inside. It's a pure 1970s cool style that looks
terrific. And with a good look on the rest of the fundamentals,
you'll happily keep all the windows down on this hardtop just so
more people can get a look inside. This loves to show off its
detailed vintage style with the working AM radio, unique white
rubber floor mats, toggle switches, side-mounted glovebox, and
plenty of wood-like trim. The SST is the premium trim, and that
means comfortable features like high-back bucket seats, and a
center console in-between. Of course, being a true sports car means
the right driver features, like a dash that wraps around you, a
horseshoe shifter, an AMC sports steering wheel, and full gauges
with desirable tic-toc-tach.
AMC's 360 cubic-inch V8 is always great to see under the hood. This
is believed to be original to the car, and it has a terrific look
with a clean style and just the right hints to show originality.
The V8 fires up eagerly as it inhales deeply with a four-barrel
carburetor, and it exhales with a sweet tune out of the dual
exhaust. Despite adding to the low mileage, you're going to want to
cruise this coupe everywhere. It has a smooth-shifting three-speed
automatic transmission, and there are more great driving features
like power steering, power brakes, and front discs.
The sale comes with terrific paperwork, including the original bill
of sale, the owner's manual, title documentation, service manuals,
maintenance records, and the magazine feature story. There's even a
car cover so you can tuck it in every night in your garage. This is
an exceptional Javelin SST, so if you're a true collector, you know
this hardtop is for you. Call now!
