Vehicle Description
When a car looks this authentic, and underneath it has been
upgraded to be an even better racer, then this 1969 Chevrolet
Camaro Race Car is the awesome kind of tribute that can run circles
around the original. So dig into all the details, because the look
is pure nostalgia, but the 700+ horsepower motor is a pure
racetrack hero.
If you're going to have a Camaro racecar, the best place to start
is by giving it the look of the legendary Mark Donohue Camaro. This
has an inspired style everywhere from the yellow Penske livery
(including hood pinstriping) to the black vinyl roof. It even has
the right speedy details, like the yellow Howe racing wheels, hood
pins, a large front splitter, the cowl hood, and a full rear
spoiler. This is a pure racecar intended for track use, but it also
makes sure to show off the right classic style. There's a look of
quality where the deep blue paint helps to highlight the straight
sheet metal. And the chrome bumpers even shine with
distinction.
The interior is pure competition-grade components. It's stripped of
nearly all its excess weight and replaced with bright white
bareness. The upgrades are track-worthy with a full cage,
reinforced rockers, ignition switch box, fire suppression system,
and a modern racing seat with a harness. The setup even gets the
details right with the fuel cell mounted low in the trunk and the
battery set in the center for ideal weight distribution. The large
AccuTech readouts, proper toggle switches, large shift lights, and
detachable steering wheel on a Sweet collapsible steering column
all have a professional-level feel. There's even an air
conditioning system for the driver's helmet.
The engine is what makes this racer so special, and so it's put on
a proper tidy display. This is a Donovan aluminum big block is a
healthy 500ci. It is enhanced and fortified further with a Callies
crank, JE domed pistons, Oliver Racing rods, Comp Cams roller
camshaft, GM aluminum heads, a Dart intake, and topped with a
Holley 850 CFM four-barrel carburetor. It also has the right
supporting pieces, like a dual MSD ignition system, Jones Racing
drive system, a custom dry sump pump, and a large Griffin aluminum
radiator with electric fan. Long tube headers add power as they
directly feed the side exhaust. So this one has serious power and
has the bark to tell everyone it's not for the timid. The Jerrico
four-speed manual transmission keeps you in firm control of the
motor, and it includes a 7.25-inch Quartermaster clutch and
Quartermaster hydraulic throwout bearing. This feeds an aluminum
driveshaft on its way to the Winters Performance 9-inch floater
rear with locker. The suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein
shocks, a Coleman three-piece sway bar, watts link rear, and
Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes.
The sale comes complete with maintenance records and restoration
photos that show the detailed construction of this true racer. This
is the awesome Camaro racer that really lets you make the most of a
track day. Call today!!! (This vehicle does not come with a title.
