(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1939 Chevrolet on a
website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that
you've only seen some of our many photographs of the car due to
third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all the more
than 200 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around
video, and a link to its accident and damage-free Carfax history,
please go to our main website: GKM.com) My first car at age 15 was
a black '39 Chevy 2-door sedan bought for $30 from my neighbor in
Des Moines, Iowa. €" Written by the owner who would later restore
and upgrade a different '39 Chevy Master Deluxe. Offered here is
that second '39 Chevy 2-door Master Deluxe (which also happens to
have coincidentally originated in Des Moines), fully restored and
beautifully upgraded with tasteful additions to a truly classic
automobile. The black exterior paint remains in driver quality. The
body features a thin, tan pinstripe along both sides. Chrome
headlight bezels, grille, hood trim, window trim, and bumpers are
also free of damage with only light patina. Cabin glass and all
lighting lenses-including the blue dot taillight lenses-are clear
and free of cracks. Factory badging includes the Chevrolet
lettering and emblem in the front grille, Master Deluxe hood
emblems, and red-and-white bowtie emblem on the trunk lid. The
15-inch wheels with chrome trim rings and chrome baby moon hubcaps
are borrowed from a '66 Corvette and are mounted with Starfire®
195/60 all-season tires. The Chevy's light-tan interior has been
extensively, but respectfully, upgraded. Door trim is soft tan
fabric flat-panels with chrome door handles and window cranks.
Front bucket seats and center armrest-replacements from a more
recent model-feature the same tan-fabric upholstery, while the rear
bench seat is the original-style reupholstered to match. A small
front console includes cupholders and a fire extinguisher. The tan
headliner has been completely refreshed. Cabin carpeting is a
smoky-tan shade with matching protective carpet mats. (The trunk is
also fully carpeted and very clean.) The original, 2-spoke steering
wheel in tan-and-brown (colors which are echoed across the dash)
with full-circle chrome horn ring and colorful bowtie-crest center
emblem frames a dashboard and instrument cluster that comprise a
perfect blend of old and new. All instruments have been upgraded
with VDO® analog gauges augmented by a Sun® tachometer mounted
below the dash. Cruise control and upgraded audio controls are also
mounted (the Alpine® head unit is located in the glove box), while
the original square-knob-tuned radio remains mounted on the chrome
center-dash trim, above a Chevrolet bowtie emblem. To the right,
facing the front passenger, is the original analog clock with a
chrome Master Deluxe emblem below. (Please view the close-up
photography in the gallery to assess the impressive condition of
all the car's interior surfaces.) Under the center-hinged hood, the
350-cubic inch, Edelbrock®-4-barrel-fueled Chevrolet V8-wears
Edelbrock-branded, finned, open-sided air cleaner and valve covers.
The engine bay is spotless. A partial list of the engine work
includes an Edelbrock intake, ceramic headers, HEI® ignition, and
Lokar® carburetor linkage, with a Walker® radiator and fan shield.
Viewed from below, the chassis and components are all properly in
place and undamaged. Visual focal points include the full-length
dual-exhaust system with crossover pipe and chrome tips,
rack-and-pinion steering, and rear swaybar. (To best evaluate the
condition of undercarriage surfaces, please review the gallery
photos shot from below.) The car's original identification tag
remains properly mounted. The sale includes a thick, 3-ring bind
