A classic 4x4 like this 1971 International Harvester Scout II 4x4
will always grab your attention for its distinct style that didn't
follow The Big Three. And distinction is the big part of the appeal
here because it's a very early Scout II that is a truly useful 4x4
with proper V8 power.
The blue paint on this one is an upgrade later in life, and it sets
the tone correctly for this IH Scout. There's a nice gloss from the
clearcoat application, but it never gets too serious so that you
would hesitate to keep going when the pavement ends. There's a
cool/classic style with the white hardtop, white bumpers, and white
grille giving this a vintage two-tone kind of presentation. And the
American Racing Baja wheels add some bright flair. So this one is
very useful, but it also has some added vintage appeal. That's
right for a special Scout like this. 1971 was unique where the
Scout II was upgraded in the middle of the year. So this was the
debut year, but it was a shorter run. That makes for quite a rare
find today.
The interior is tasteful and functional. You see it in details like
the durable vinyl upholstery, a rugged rubber front floor, and a
two-piece tailgate that's perfect for ballgames. And of course,
this has the removable hardtop that makes this classic SUV a full
convertible for great sunny day cruises. It's nicely set up for the
driver with front bucket seats, an auxiliary gauge trio, and a
retro-cool AM/FM/cassette stereo. Plus, an industrial-grade IH
machine has an understated feeling that this one knows how to get
to work. It's in the solid feeling you get from fundamentals like
the grip of the shifter and classic thing/sturdy steering
wheel.
International's own 304 cubic-inch V8 means a unique presentation
under the forward-tilt hood. This is a replacement motor, but no
one will suspect that with such an honest presentation. It warms up
to become the torque king you love in an International Scout. The
V8 is mated to a four-speed manual transmission for proper control.
The Scout's two-speed transfer case and BF Goodrich All-Terrain
T/As make for a proper 4x4. Plus, power steering, power brakes, and
front discs make for a good classic cruiser feeling.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, warranty book, and
rear seat belts. Overall, this Scout II is the right mix of rugged
appeal and true vintage cool. That's why you know this is the one
you need to take home. Call today!!!
