1970 'Cuda 440ci 6-Pack, Keisler 5-speed, A/C, Rotisserie restored,
Bucket seats, and so much more!
The team at LaFontaine Classic Cars is at it again, bringing high
quality, desirable, muscle cars to market. Take a look at this
incredible find! This 1970 'Cuda is in excellent condition and has
undergone a meticulous rotisserie restoration during prior
ownership, recreating one of the most popular Mopar's of all time -
the '70 'Cuda 440 6-pack. This was one of the best performing
muscle cars of its era due to its relatively light weight and big
block power.
Lifting the hood on this beauty reveals the huge 440 cubic inch big
block painted in factory Hemi Orange with the oversized, color
matched, ""Six-Barrel"" air cleaner assembly instantly drawing your
eyes to its size. This engine combination is factory rated at 390
hp with an incredible 490 ft lbs of torque in stock form; with
added long tube headers, a performance camshaft, and (3) Demon 2bbl
carburetors (6-pack), power is estimated to be well over 425 hp
with estimated torque well over 500 ft lbs. The beauty of this
engine combination is its excellent street manners driving around
town, or cruising down the highway. Then, when the situation gets
serious, you put your foot to the floor, and this 'Cuda will leave
most of the competition in the dust. Sending all of that power back
to the 8 "" rear axle, is a Tremec 3550/TKO 5-speed transmission
with the overdrive making highway driving a breeze, even while
spinning the 3.91 gears.
Restoring the sheet metal began by mounting the body to a
rotisserie allowing the technicians the ability to spin it 360
degrees, providing easy access to every inch, most importantly,
easy access to the underside sheet metal. The end result speaks for
itself - a higher quality, more detail-oriented paint finish as
shown in the underside photos. The color choice was the factory
trim tag code ""EB7"" Jamaica Blue Metallic. Assembling the body
included new chrome bumpers, new or refurbished brightwork, new
cast aluminum rocker panel moldings, along with new hardware
throughout.
The interior is finished in the factory trim tag code ""P6XW""
which breaks down to Premium Trim Grade in White and Black with
vinyl covered Bucket Seats. The center console features the iconic
""Pistol-Grip"" shifter with updated 5-speed shift pattern decal
for reference, refurbished dash board with factory gauges all
functioning as they should including the recalibrated speedometer
for the 3.91 gears. Extra time was spent making sure the factory
accessories were all in good working order including windshield
wipers, dash mounted clock, dash mounted Reverse light, and rare
""Rim-Blow"" horn steering wheel. Options include: Power steering,
power brakes (front disc), remote side view mirror, lower front
mounted Road Lamps, overhead console, and Air Conditioning that
blows ice cold.
Looking underneath reveals those shiny Jamaican Blue Metallic
floors surrounded by new suspension components front to rear
including rear leaf springs, shocks on all 4 corners, front control
arms, all related steering components, with new bushings and
hardware throughout. New braking components were installed on all 4
corners with new brake lines front to rear. The fuel system was
also completely replaced utilizing a new factory style tank,
electric fuel pump, and new fuel lines from tank to
carburetors.
The final touch was the installation of factory style Magnum 500
steel wheels measuring 15x7 up front, with 15x8 in the rear - tires
are the smooth riding BFGoodrich Radial T/A's with 225/70/15's in
front, while the 275/60/15's were mounted out back.
