Just when competition thought they'd finally caught up. The all new Pontiac Grandville Convertible.
In 1971 the new Pontiac came out. A car that was meant to be the S-class of the Mercedes; the battleship that was meant to take Pontiac to the next level? How? Simple according to Mr Roche; A 7.5 milk carton eight cylinder big-block, 6 metres long with two doors that goes topless. A car that also thought of the tree-huggers; No tree was cut down and no cow died for the interior. It is an ode to man-made materials. According to the original letter that accompanies the car, on 22 February 1971 Mr Mosby in Missouri took delivery of the Pontiac. In addition to being the largest model, he had quite a few options on the list. It came with the 455-4 engine, electric windows, power steering, electric seats and air conditioning. A small 30% extra, but then it was, apart from the cigarette lighters on the side of the front seats, full options. Our Grandville is fully documented and restored in 2014 at Oldschool Custom Works in Stuttgart. With all due respect to American restorations, but how glad we are that Germans have no sense of humour. Everything is as new, without putty. We dare to say, better than new! The original 'tank sticker', the 'protector plate', booklets and delivery letter are still present with the car. Less miles but more smiles a litre. Can we see you soon?
