Tophats speak louder than words. -
The Land Rover Defender. A car that was synonymous for snorkels, bull bars, winches, trenches and the savannah in Africa. Nowadays, the average Dutch Defender has it a little easier. The steepest slope is the bridge of the Prinsengracht and going offroad through the sandy path to horseback riding lessons is quite something, Boudewijn! But oh well, the Defender is and remains, practical considerations aside, an icon.
Tophat recognized that the G-Class, its German counterpart, answered the niche much better with spartan looks, but luxury and comfort inside. Almost real, without the concessions. So Tophat offered a direct competitor to the G AMG. A Defender with a LT1 6.2 V8 Corvette block, paired with a T56 Magnum manual transmission. From 0 to 100? In 4.9 seconds, if you don't pull it on its rear wheels. Needed? Nope. Fun? So good!
And we hear you thinking; that with the handling of a teenager walking out of the pub for the first time after the Corona crisis?! Of course not. Tophat got you covered; she's double sprung. Koni's for the immediate shocks, adjustable air suspension secondary. Custom brakes by AP Racing, steering entirely custom and the entire interior dipped in Connerly cows. Double stitched, of course. The audio system was specially built in an acoustic box, tailored to the Defender. Cost of this option? Over 27 thousand euros. If you say it quickly, it's not too bad.
So are you looking for the coolest restomod of 2021? Something else than the SVR or G63? Then this Def will break your week!
It's not what you buy, it's what you build. -
