1968 Shelby GT500KR For Sale - Factory Acapulco Blue, Fully
Documented King Of The Road LMC is very proud to offer for this
1968 Shelby GT500KR Mid-way through the 1968 model year, Ford
introduced what would become one of its most famous engines, the
428 Cobra Jet. It was an upgraded version of the previously
available Police Interceptor 428. Of course, this meant that the
GT500 from Shelby was going to be upgraded as well and with that it
required some name change to signify the upgrade. The GT500 KR was
released with KR signifying of course the legendary "King of the
Road". Sold new at J.C. Lewis in Savannah, Georgia this 1968 Shelby
GT500 KR is finished in the very attractive factory ordered
Acapulco Blue paint with black vinyl luxury bucket seat interior.
As with all King Of The Road models, it is powered by the numbers
matching "R" code 428 Cobra Jet engine backed by an optional C6
automatic transmission sending power to a 3.50 traction-Lok
differential. This KR is optioned with shoulder harness GT
equipment group, power steering, power front disc brakes,
visibility group, AM radio, interior decor group and tilt-away
steering column. This car comes with full documentation courtesy of
Marti Auto Works and is also listed in the Shelby American
Registry. The KR has always been a top-of-the-line muscle car,
brutal power but with all the options. These factors which made
them a sought-after car when new still hold true today as they
