Vehicle Description
This 1988 Oldsmobile 88 Custom Cruiser Wagon is a fun find. It's a
terrific survivor that reminds you of long family trips. And the
soft velour interior, loaded features, and V8 power are all there
to make sure this lives up to your nostalgia.
There's a whole new appreciation for the squared-off lines of these
1980s Oldsmobiles. Today, they have matured into an elegant style.
And this wagon has nice details, like the Olds wire hubcaps, a
luggage rack, and a burgundy pinstripe to preview the interior. The
finish and many details are far from perfect, but it's what you
want on a wagon like this. Some people just love this kind of
originality that looks like it has spent decades making runs in
between school and baseball practice. Others will see the clean and
complete sheet metal as the right base to fulfill a personal
project. If this reminds you of the wagon of your childhood, you
probably want to change it to that color, right? Or maybe you're
going to give it the sleek metallic for your restomod project. And
if you're looking to have a sleeper-style grocery-getter, we bet
the current imperfect finish is absolutely perfect. The options are
almost endless when this wagon's value price leaves plenty of room
in your budget for whatever plans you have.
This Oldsmobile is particularly impressive for the level of
features inside. A tilt wheel and a fold-down armrest make sure
this wagon knows how to get long-haul comfortable. This premium
Olds has plenty of features that weren't on the average family
wagon, like a power front seat, power windows, and an upgraded
AM/FM/CD stereo. There are even provisions for R134a air
conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) There are
three rows that are all done in a burgundy velour that looks good
without being too fancy to let everyone pile in on a whim. And both
back rows can all be folded flat for utility. So it's perfect for
loading up with supplies and spending the day showing it off at the
car show. And don't forget, the tailgate is a two-position piece
that opens to the side to let people in or it folds down for true
tailgating.
Under the hood is the correct-style 307 cubic-inch V8. It's a
four-barrel carburetor car, and so we know there are some who are
already dreaming of taking this hardy small block and adding some
easy performance upgrades to create a terrific sleeper-style
grocery-getter. But there's also just something alluring about the
honest package that we already have. It's a well-maintained and
strong running package. So this Olds remains an appealing family
wagon. It even has a four-speed automatic transmission with
highway-ready overdrive for those long road trips. Plus, power
steering, power brakes, and front discs make journeys near and far
quite easy.
Complete with the owner's manual, this is family-style nostalgia.
