The 1977 Z28 Camaro was introduced at the 1977 Daytona 500 in a
Chevrolet display. Monday morning Z28 Lovers flocked to dealers
trying to order their beloved auto that was discontinued for 1976
car production. This beloved Z28 was ordered by it's original owner
for his wife and he bought a new 1977 Corvette for him in
California and the Z28 was built at the Los Angeles plant. He
special ordered it in Black with Black vinyl interior. Air
Conditioning. Power steering and Power Disc Brakes. AM FM 8 track
stereo. This car has never been taken apart or restored. 85,000
original miles. The original owners wife always complained she
would sweat on the vinyl seats after just two months so he went
back and ordered The optional vinyl and black cloth inserts and had
the dealer install them crisis with the wife avoided. The
California built Z28's were coded way differently than the Norwood
cars thus the non"Z28" stamped on the cowl tag. You could not get a
4 speed either in California. These cars were rushed to production
to try and fill orders. This beautiful example was built 03B The
second week of March. These cars used the Corvette LM1 engines 170
hp. This engine block has casting number 3970010. it was assembled
feb22 1977. This engine has never been out of the car. CHZ is the
code which means uncertain usage. This was used in a lot of first
series built Z28 until they could catch up on orders. It has the
special block with the dipstick tube on the drivers side and the
special oil pan for that left provision clearance. There was a
recall on this dip stick tube that would rub on the air
conditioning tube causing it to rub thru. This car has had that
recall procedure done. The carb number is #17057204 0457 that is 45
day of 1977. The distributor is # 103246 7B4 , Feb 1977. The
exhaust manifolds are Rt. 346248 and Lft. 364747. It is standard
bore. This original engine has had the normal maintenance performed
to make reliable and be able to drive anywhere for any length of
time. This car runs exec. no smoke or burning of oil. The fast idle
choke works great. This car was tuned and hardly driven. The
original transmission was rebuilt 2 years ago with a small
performance shit kit and a 2500 stall converter which greatly
improved this cars performance big time. It lets the engine come
out harder from a dead stop and squawks the tires when you hit
second. There is only 20 miles since it was redone. The original
rear end is Dated First of March 1977 and is a 3:42 Positive
traction unit. This car has the original space saver spare and jack
assembly. It has the original trunk mat. All the original jack
instruction stickers are on the underside of the deck lid. This car
has factory A/C Delco rear air ride shock absorbers added by
current owner with new Monroe Matic heavy duty gas shocks for the
front. This car has only had one repaint years ago and shows really
awesome and is very glossy and shiny. very few imperfections. There
is absolutely no rust or rust issues. Never hit or in any accident.
Everything works excellent. The 8 track stereo system works great
also. The original door sticker with the vin and Tire size decals
are still there. First owner had it until he was 85 yrs old. that
was in 2012. He sold it to a Mustang restoration shop in Missouri
in early 2012 because they knew each other. they sold it on Ebay
Motors a few months later to Current owner who has only put 200
miles on it since. The original owner sold both cars only because
he was getting up there in age and did not want to have his wife
deal with selling the cars if he passed away first. The current 3rd
owner is a very fussy person and his cars have to be very well
maintained and in excellent driving and running cars. This car was
always in perfect weather conditions heated in winter and air
conditioned in summer. All new Aluminized performance exhaust with
performance turbo mufflers. all new front suspension ball joints,
tie rods etc. New heavy duty coil springs in the front and new
heavy duty rear leaf springs. New Radiator core. New Tune up spark
plugs , wires cap and rotor. all new brakes. The current owner had
a 1974 Black 4 speed Z28 when he was in high school and looked for
years for that same car but could never find one. This was up to
his standards in what he likes being mostly original and being very
picky on condition. After buying it on Ebay from hardly owned
second owners he put the aluminum non painted bumpers and non
painted front and rear polished window mouldings on to look like
his 1974 Z28. We have the original painted aluminum bumpers and
window trim. They are excellent and could be put back on. You would
be hard pressed to find another Z28 in this condition. all the hard
research was done on this car. These are really hard to find in
this condition. Especially only starting to be built at the end of
Feb in 1977. You can get all the original GM info at
