For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

By now you've probably realized your friends at RK Motors enjoy finding killer first-generation Camaros. The faster, the scarier, the more unique: THE BETTER! Over the past ten years, we've brought you some of the most mind-blowing, potent and flat-out nasty pro-touring resto-mods in the muscle car scene. And, based on the countless times we've watched these cars roll through our showroom, you guys enjoy them just as much as we do. Then again, how could anyone not love a stylish classic that can outrun, out turn, out stop and out class machines that are half its age and twice its price? Combining the best of yesterday with the best of today and tomorrow, this exquisite 1968 Camaro, wrapping 496 cubic inches of professionally built big block in proven hardware and tasteful aesthetics, was created for the enthusiast who wants the absolute best. If you've been languishing at your desk debating a purchase while your favorite F-bodies cycle through our inventory, here's a quick chance at redemption!

SIMPLE IS GOOD

Completing an intricate transformation from solid Detroit steel into a lean, mean Chevrolet dream machine, this spectacular F1 displays bodywork that's nothing short of excellent! The car's professional, ground-up restoration started with an original Camaro body that was stripped completely bare. Once that shell was thoroughly prepped, each of its panels was carefully aligned to uniform consistency. And presently, those meticulously fitted panels reflect brilliant Victory Red two-stage that was sprayed in late 2021. The end result is one seriously lethal showpiece that has major street presence and exceptional curb appeal!

Zoom in on the details and this custom continues to impress. At the front of its body, a clean Super Sport grille hangs a classy Super Sport emblem between bright headlights, clear parking lamps and an aggressive, rally-style valance. A shaved header leads a requisite Cowl Induction Hood, which leads a tinted greenhouse that's framed in traditional factory stainless. At the sides of that glass, small factory mirrors join bright GM handles and small '68 markers to add just the right amount of flash to the car's shaved profile. And at the back of that profile, a second D80 spoiler shades a satin Super Sport valance that's dressed with a polished bumper, a Super Sport fuel cap and '68-exclusive taillights.

BIGGER IS BETTER

Gaze into this Chevy's smooth engine bay and you'll find 496 cubic inches of big block fury that, professionally assembled in late 2021, is just as comfortable cruising country roads as it is lining up at late night stoplights! At the top of the sinister mill, a slick Billet Specialties Streamline air cleaner caps a big Holley 4-barrel that's wired with braided Fragola lines, a compact Holley regulator and a liquid-filled Marshall pressure gauge. A perfect air/fuel mixture flows through a Charcoal Gray Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake to Charcoal Gray heads, which anchor slick Billet Specialties Streamline valve covers under billet breathers. Those aluminum heads work well with a forged rotating assembly, a custom-grind roller cam and hydraulic roller lifters. At the back of that cam, a hot points distributor sequences sparks through loomed Taylor Spiro Pro plug wires. Below those wires, ceramic-coated Hedman shorties funnel spent gases into large-diameter, true-dual exhaust. At the front of those tubes, a Billet Specialties Tru Trac accessory drive spins a muted Powermaster alternator opposite billet timing components, a muted AC compressor and a color-keyed Edelbrock water pump. A factory core support anchors a big aluminum radiator between billet fender bars and a large electric puller fan. Naturally, this monster's builders, Harrington's Machine Shop of Taylorsville, North Carolina, added choice detailing like ARP bolts, Billet Specialties hood supports, a deep Moroso oil pan and mesh hood grilles. And it all adds up to 701 dyno-proven horsepower and 643 lb./ft. of dyno-proven torque!

SPEAKING OF PROVEN

Take a gander under this wicked F-Body and you'll find a fully detailed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school durability. Solid floorpans wear a clean combination of Victory Red two-stage and battle-ready undercoating. At the center of those floors, a tough 700R4 4-speed makes excellent use of a tough Ford 9-inch, which spins a Truetrac differential around big, 3.73 gears. Stopping is a cinch thanks to a Wilwood master cylinder, a Wilwood proportioning valve and four Wilwood calipers. Power-assisted turns are greatly enhanced by a RideTech TruTurn Steering System. That system leads a RideTech MuscleBar, RideTech StrongArms and RideTech coil-over-shocks. At the back of the car, a RideTech 4-link balances two more RideTech coil-overs between beefy subframe connectors and high quality mini tubs. Exhaust is channeled through large stainless pipes, which swirl sweet rumbles through an X-shaped crossover and throaty MagnaFlow mufflers. And torque melts the pavement thanks to handsome Billet Specialties Cambers, which spin 245/40ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sports in front of 325/30ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sports.

SPEAKING OF HANDSOME

Behind the car's solid-closing doors you'll find a factory Deluxe Interior that provides just the right amount of classic flash! Front-and-center, a warp-free dash hangs modern telemetry beside modern, direct-fit audio and Vintage Air climate control. Below that dash, a factory console slides a factory Horseshoe Shifter on fade-free carpet that frames billet foot pedals. Deluxe bucket seats look great between Deluxe side panels and crisp Hertz speakers. And the driver spins a traditional Chevrolet Rally Wheel around a tilt steering column.

In summary, this awesome Camaro represents creative engineering at its very finest, combining timeless design with no-excuses, no-limits performance. Put it on a pedestal and stare at it... Take it to the local cruise in... Whatever you elect to do with this cool coupe, it's sure to be the centerpiece of your collection, the focal point of your garage and, most importantly, the car you most look forward to driving and being seen in!
