For Sale: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

This is a tribute to the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible. And when making a tribute to the best out there, you even offer the right upgrades, including added 454 big block power and an upgraded ride. Plus, this was even born with the awesome color combo. So you have rarity, distinction, and power all in one package.

The first thing to understand about this car is it's a 1971 Chevelle, but with a 1970 front and rear end. So you get the desirable quad headlight style, but in a year that's even rarer for the drop-tops. Only about 5k were produced, which was less than one percent of the total Chevelle production for the year! The trim tag tells us this was born a desirable Cranberry Red. It was given a proper respray later in life to make sure the color really pops in the sunshine. It has the good lines and good chrome of an iconic Chevelle. But nothing on this is ever too perfect to enjoy, because as you look over everything, you're going to see the heart of a great driver's classic. After all, we all love showing off the mean Super Sport Style with the cowl hood, blackout grille, SS badging, and black racing stripe. And the 20-inch Eagle Alloy wheels give this added distinction and a great sporty stance.

The black convertible top is a newer piece that looks terrific when it's in place. But the reason you fell in love with this car is that it's a rare Chevelle drop-top. So it's nice to power down the roof and see the factory-correct black interior continue the attractive color package. Just like the exterior, it looks good without making you nervous about hopping in and going for a drive. You'll even appreciate the little things, like the correct trim on the seatbacks and back convertible boot. There are good driver features like the retro-style AM/FM digital tuner with aux input and provisions for factory air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) And it really is a terrific driver's setup. You have front bucket seats with a center console in-between. There are auxiliary gauges under the dash and the classic sports steering wheel on a desirable tilt column.

This has the proper look of a Super Sport under the hood thanks to the 454 cubic-inch big block filling the engine bay. It has the tidy look of good care, but what you'll especially like is the upgraded performance. The large V8 inhales deeper with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake. And it exhales with added power and authority as long tube headers feed the dual exhaust. There are nice SS-style details that you want on a strong driver, like the 12-bolt rear end, rear sway bar, and Chevy stout but smooth TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Plus, you remember those upgraded wheels that look so cool? The larger 20-inch size means this classic also gets to utilize modern and grippy ZR-rated tires. Add in power steering, power brakes, and front discs, and this makes for a solid big block cruiser.

This takes an already rare and desirable Chevelle and also makes it a tribute to all the best SS pieces. So it's a terrific total package you need to get your hands on right now. Call today!!!
