For Sale: 1955 Jaguar XK140 in Naarden, Noord Holland

Vehicle Description

From the days when British cars were still handmade by men with thick forearms and gruff faces full of sooty smears. The XK140 is the larger, more powerful and comfortable brother of the XK120. The 120 was built for speed, the 140 was built for luxury, with the American market in mind. The 140 has more interior space, stronger brakes and, because of telescopic shock absorbers, you'll have a little less bip pain at drinks time.

When you park the car at the café, you naturally place it with the butt backwards. Then a wood-inlaid emblem with 'Winner Le Mans 1951-3' reveals the state of the white English car. The beauty of the open two seater (OTS) is that the rear end slopes neatly, and no folded up convertible canvas interferes with the beautiful lines of the car.

The Jaguar graced America with its splendour until the seventies, when it made its way to our cold little country. This beautiful Jaguar XK 140 OTS has been in the possession of the same Dutch owner since 1989, and that was quite something. Over the years, the car was not only fully restored, but also took to the Raid Rally and the Lions Rally. Last year the face of the Jag was repainted, but also the carburettors, gearbox, clutch, tyres and brakes were done. In addition, the XK140 has been fitted with an aluminium fuel tank, new fuel pump and cylinder head. You can feel it, the car drives like new.
