-A car that covers every corner of cool -
Sometimes you're beautifully varnished, sometimes you're very cuddly in your suede. You always have a firm grip and give a clear direction... We're not talking about your beloved now, but something that the average classic car enthusiast often has in his hands. Exactly. A Nardi steering wheel!
Enrico Nardi is a well known name in the classic steering wheel world. What he is less known for, was his significant role in the 50's and 60's as an Italian tuning company which built its own cars with competition heart. In 1956 Enrico designed, based on the Fiat 600 chassis, the 750 Vignale Coupé Nardi. The 600 cc Fiat engine was given a little more espresso and was increased to 750cc. The body was designed by Michelotti who worked for VIgnale and everything was assembled at Nardi's. Final result? Dannatamente buono! So good, that Enrico himself drove it in competitions; including the 1957 Mille Miglia!
In the end, almost 50 were born, of which a few dozen remain today. Ours comes from a rather special collection and in the past fifteen years it has hardly treated its owner to flat-floor bends. Something she loves to do, by the way. She was fully restored in Germany in the 1990s and is still in very good condition. Her Italian heart was completely overhauled at Fokker early this year and now she is ready for more petrol fun.
A presto!
