1951 Ford Custom Convertible
There are at 4 known owners of this beautiful Chartreuse Green 51 Ford convertible, all of whom hail(ed) from CT.
The current owner got the car as part of a business deal and seeing as he's not much of a Ford guy, he has decided to sell her on. When he took possession, he did some minor tune up work, replaced both water pumps and had a piece of the convertible top frame fixed.
The previous owner had started a restoration on the car and had some body work done, the car painted, he had the seats and door cards reupholstered, put new tires on it and had several of the chrome bits re-chromed. The tops of the doors still need paint, however, the dash paint is in very good shape. All the lights work, heat works but blower is intermittent, the AM radio works and the power top works as it should. The car starts easily and runs and drives very nicely, granted, this car is 70 years old and has 68,000 miles on her, so it should not be compared to a new car.
Overall, the top is in very good condition, unfortunately, the once broken part of the top did put a small tear in the top and it has been patched.
There is no rot on the car and the under carriage has the surface rust that would be seen on a car from New England that is 70 years old.
The engine is the Ford flathead 239 V8 and it should be putting out around 95 HP and 170 lb ft of torque. It is attached to a three speed Ford-O-Matic, automatic transmission. It is currently running a single exhaust but a dual exhaust would really make the flathead rumble and wake it up a bit.
The light chartreuse green paint and wide white walls really grab attention and the overall condition of this car would have her as an award winner at local cruise nights and car shows.
There is still some finishing to be done for those looking for a little tinkering to do, but generally speaking this car is ready to hop in and enjoy.
She comes with a bunch of extra parts and manuals too.
