Presented here is truly one of the most remarkable Austin Healeys any of our team at Classic Investments has ever had the pleasure of seeing. This car was purchased new in 1956 and held in a collection by a gentleman who drove his cars very sparingly. The car was surrounded by a number of other low mileage cars in a climate controlled garage for many years. The original owner of the car would start his cars fairly regularly and run them, to make sure he did not have any issues that come with letting a car sit without running for too long. We acquired this car, along with a few other low-mileage originals, and are proud to bring it to the market for the first time since it was sold to him new.

With under 9,300 miles on the Odometer since new, this car is in unbelievable original condition. It has never had any part on the car refinished since it left the factory floor, making this a truly all original BN2. Once we acquired the car, we have reconditioned some mechanical components to ensure a new owner can enjoy the car and have it be reliable for them, while still being sympathetic to the factory finishes. The Fuel system has been gone through, completely cleaned out, and Carburetors have been rebuilt. All braking components have been re-sleeved and re-sealed, without disturbing our original patina on any of them. The engine has been checked to make sure it was healthy, had wonderful compression, so a fluid flush, water pump, and valve adjust was completed. Some consumable goods had to be replaced, such as hoses, but all original components remain with the car. We did not want to disturb the Patina on the original wheels, or dismount the factory equipped tires, so the car comes with a second set of new wheels and tires, paint matched to the factory cream colored wheels.

Overall this is such a lovely original car with amazing patina. The car has never had any paintwork done whatsoever, as checked with a paint thickness meter. The body is unbelievably straight, and all the brightwork is still in great condition. The convertible top does not appear to have ever been down, and doesn’t have as much as a scuff, let alone a tear anywhere on it. The original plastic rear window is completely intact with no creasing or cracking. The side curtains have been in place all these years during storage, keeping them from creasing and keeping most of the dust outside of the interior. You will not find another big Healey that has original paint completely throughout without any major problems or wear, this car only has patina that comes with time.

Inside the car is absolutely delightful. Since the car sat indoors with the top up and side curtains installed the whole time, it is really a time capsule from 1956. All the carpets have virtually no wear and tear at all, which is not a surprise for a car with such low mileage but still such a great sight to see for a car of this age. The leather on the seats remains soft and supple, and the padding inside has not been sat on enough to cause any flattening or deterioration. Since the car has been in doors, there is no UV damage to any components, so the beautiful factory finishes are just that, factory. Sitting in this car accomplishes what can not be done by even the best restored Austin Healey’s, it provides you with all the original feels, smells and visuals that you would get if you were to have purchased the car brand new.

Cars in this condition do not come a long very often, and we feel very lucky to have acquired this car and been able to get it roadworthy and remain sympathetic to the original finishes. No corners were cut when making this into a usable drivable car while also leaving no trace that there has been work done to it. We are excited for the car to move on to its next caretaker that can continue to preserve this amazing piece of history!
