For Sale: 1986 Mercury Capri in Lithia Springs, Georgia
This 1986 Mercury Capri Restomod has the look of a sinister power
machine. And the enhanced fuel-injected V8, upgraded suspension,
and four-wheel disc brakes are all part of a professional build
with the moves to back up its aggressive style. So if you love
intimidation, power, and true distinction, you need this
Mercury.
Those who have been in the Fox body Mustang world should know the
name Dugan Racing. They built a reputation for creating some
terrific Mustang parts for both performance and style. So when you
see a car from that family, you know it's going to have both. The
distinction starts with the body. We don't see as many of the
Mercury Capris around anymore, and this is from the rare final
year. This celebrates the best of the Carpi with the RS-style front
facia and awesome heat extractor hood. The rear spoiler and dark
paint even make this look like the Black Magic car. But the
connection of the Mustang is instantly recognized by the way the
bubble-back hatch was replaced with the pony car's fastback. And
this even has the Mustang SVO rear panel. Plus, the bright exhaust
tips, custom rear chrome grille, chrome headlight bezels, and BBS
wheels give this the right custom touches to really let people know
it's a unique build.
The interior is inviting with leather upholstery, plush carpeting,
a taut headliner, and a smooth dash. This custom is built for
comfortable cruising. So you have nice features like power
steering, an upgraded steering wheel, power locks, and power
windows. There are even provisions for R134a air conditioning (it
will need servicing to blow cold again.) You'll even appreciate the
little details like the working trunk lights and a privacy screen
over the rear hatch.
The story that were told on the motor is the kind you absolutely
want in your coupe. This is said to be a powerhouse from Don
Dixon's High-Performance engines and that Dugan Racing had it for a
customer who passed away before it could be installed in his
project. So it became part of this in-house build. The consignor
claims this is a 351 cubic-inch V8 enlarged to 396ci total. The
info includes it has been enhanced and fortified with Twisted Wedge
Heads, an Explorer intake, 81mm Pro M mass air meter, 30 lbs
injectors, a Lunati solid roller cam, roller rockers, and an MSD
ignition. It fires up with a terrific tune out of the X-pipe dual
exhaust. It's the kind of car you want to take out on the streets.
That's why you have a fully enhanced suspension with upgraded
springs, sway bars, control arms, subframe connectors, caster
camber plates, and Koni adjustable shocks. The transmission is a
four-speed automatic with a 2800 stall to keep you in the optimal
powerband, and it feeds into an 8.8 rear that's said to have an
Auburn differential for confident take-offs. And the surefooted
feeling continues with the Cobra four-wheel power disc brakes
package and sport tires on 17-inch BBS wheels.
This is the professional build that's distinctive for its storied
history and Capri rarity. But what you'll love the best is the pure
performance feeling. So don't miss this Mercury. Call today!!!
