Vehicle Description
The 1986 Chevrolet C30 Tow Truck is a genuine workman dually that
has a ton of vintage flair. So look over every inch, because this
is a distinct classic that's ready to do everything, including
steal attention away from vehicles that cost a ton more.
This one isn't necessarily all about pulling genuine wrecker duty
anymore. It looks so good that you know it's the right one to put
your business logo on the side to have something people will
remember no matter if it's parked outside the office or leading the
local parade. Painted in Harley Davidson Denim Black, the curb
appeal of this wrecker is off the charts, and the inclusion of
custom red and white pinstripe work throughout really turns things
up to 11. Add in the wicked logos on the doors and the spooky
oversized mudflaps out back, and you've got yourself one sinister
ride. The sucker is plenty beefy, with that giant stainless bumper
up front, plenty of auxiliary LED lighting on top of the cab (the
front units were tinted black for a cool look), and the mean cowl
induction hood up front. In the back is the Holmes Tow Bed atop the
dually chassis. It's been protected with blacked-out Kevlar
spray-in liner, and the big tow arm announces this is "The Reaper".
So it's one of the better-looking utility beds we've ever seen. On
the practical side, you have plenty of storage compartments,
tie-downs on the bed, a truly useful winch, and a rear trailer
hitch with proper wiring plug. So it can also just be the beefy
dually you've wanted for enhanced C30 fun.
The inside of the cab was also updated, but they stayed a little
closer to the original script. Bucket seats split by a K5-style
center console replace the original bench, and they've been
upholstered in black with red cloth inserts. It matches the color
theme of the exterior and provides a more upscale feeling that
anything you'd ever expect in a tow truck. Speaking of upscale,
there are also features you wouldn't expect in an industrial
vehicle, including an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input, tinted
windows, and R134a air conditioning. But it still feels like a
proper durable wrecker with the black Kevlar of the bed also
returns for the majority of metal in the cab.
There's plenty of pulling power on tap with a hardy 350 cubic-inch
V8. It has an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, performance intake,
and headers feeding the dual exhaust. So you have a great V8 sound
and plenty of torque for pulling power. In fact, speaking of
industrial duty, the four-speed manual transmission has a low
granny first gear. And we're even told this dually has the right
useful features you want like a versatile 3.83 limited-slip rear
end and dual fuel tanks. There's even a newer PTO drive. Plus,
power steering, power brakes, and front discs make a day at work or
play feel easy.
