Vehicle Description
This 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible was restored to have a clean
and sleek style, and there are even the best upgrades. But it's
still a true classic at its heart. That's why you have the
numbers-matching 400ci V8 under the hood.
The Starlight Black paint is a great Pontiac color, and it has a
deep gloss and shine that tells you there has been quite a good
investment in this classic convertible. It's a product of a full
restoration in 2006, and it's evident that it has been respected
since then. The doors shut solid, the panels line up nicely, the
glass is clean, the lines are crisp, and the weather-stripping
feels fresh. The chrome also looks good everywhere, including the
distinct front bumper that shapes the full front end and defines
these first-gen Firebirds. Details like the hood scoops and
upgraded 15-inch polished REV wheels have plenty of sporty style.
But the great-looking tan roof also gives this a timeless sense of
sophistication.
While we like the look of the roof, it gets even better with the
flip of a switch. The top powers down to show off the upgraded red
interior. The vibrant vinyl on the seats just seems to give a
terrific attitude against the fresh black on the roast of the
interior as well as the exterior paint. It has a nice classic style
with low-back front bucket seats, a center console, clean door
panels, premium walnut-like trim, and a well-fitting black
convertible boot. There are the right cool cruiser upgrades, like a
retro-style AM/FM radio and factory style air conditioning
converted to R134a. The three-spoke sports steering wheel is on a
tilt column for added comfort, and you have an auxiliary gauge trio
on the dash to keep you informed on what's happening under the
hood.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 400 cubic-inch V8 and a
Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor on top. It has a stock-style
presentation, but originality doesn't mean missing out on care.
This includes good fundamentals like wires, belts, and hoses, and
there are also newer supporting components, like the alternator,
aluminum radiator, and large electric fan. This has stout power,
and the dual exhaust loves to announce it. The TH400 three-speed
automatic transmission is both strong and smooth. Plus, you have
other easy cruising features like power steering, power brakes,
front discs, and a newer set of wide modern tires.
Complete with the owner's manual and build receipts, this is a
smooth driving and smooth looking classic convertible. So if you
like true distinction, don't let this restored Firebird slip away.
