Vehicle Description
2017 Ford Escape Titanium
Let's just say Ford chose an...interesting way to reveal the 2017
Escape on television. It featured magician Larry Wilson, YouTube
beauty and lifestyle vlogger Meghan Rienks, a late night talk show
host's sidekick, axes, and a giant pinata. It's hard to blame the
Blue Oval for wanting to try something different. So many new
vehicle reveals involve words from a rep, a few seconds of silence,
and the removal of a cover. However much or little you liked the
2017 Escape's televised reveal, at least it stood out. It needed
to; the Escape is an important vehicle to Ford in the increasingly
vital SUV segment which the executives expected to grow by 40% by
the year 2020.
Pack your gear, grab some extra snacks, maybe a change of clothes,
and your phone charger, it's time to escape and explore the wilds
of rural America in this capable and powerful small SUV. This
consignment is a 1 owner, low mileage, babied 4-wheeler with some
custom touches and plenty of potential and life left to go explore
the US of A.
Exterior
Following suit of the entire product line up Ford designers grafted
on the chrome bar grille that graces the front of all of its
crossover vehicles. Large foglamps, hood ridges and wrap-around
headlights complete the face and give a tough appearance especially
with the added longhorn silhouette installed over the grille badge.
Everything is looking good on the exterior. Bathed in Magnetic
Metallic with custom painted airbrushed swoops in orange and gray
along with orange painted pinstriping, and peppered with chrome
give the arching windshield, beefy fender forms, and gray lower
body cladding a hint at off-road capability. Tinted glass and large
18-inch wheels with like new 235/50/18's on all 4 corners you'll
have the chops to take on any adventure that comes your way. It
will perform just as nicely on a trip to drop off the kids at
soccer practice too. Around back, dual chrome exhaust tips, LED
taillamps and a subtle roof spoiler all leave their marks. An
upward swinging hatch gives plenty of space to load all your gear.
Highlighting this hatch is a fully airbrushed Pacific Northwest
motif complete with a proudly standing buck and soaring eagle.
Viola!
Interior. Sliding inside, passengers enjoy a deft paradox of simple
and sophisticated. It has touches of class with a leather wrapped
steering wheel, charcoal black heated leather seats, and push
button ignition. Black molded plastic door panels hold the controls
for the power windows, power locks, and driver's memory seat
positioning. The leather wrapped wheel, complete with audio, and
info system controls are fronting the dash with its ice blue
ambient lit gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, and
the Ford Sync infotainment system which is
AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth/Satellite capable and also offers up a rear-view
camera. A power liftgate opens to split-fold rear seats that free
up considerable cargo space and clean black carpet provides the
backdrop for the larger than expected interior
Drivetrain
Under the hood is an all clean and well maintained 2.0 twin scroll
turbocharged 4-cylinder making 245hp. This healthy 4-cylinder is
fed by EFI and has a Select Shift 6-speed automatic on the back
with a 3.07 axle ratios both front and rear. Looking good under the
hood!
Undercarriage
This one owner really did baby this truck and it shows underneath
with just spotty surface rust throughout. Aerodynamic pans cover
the transmission case and bottom end of the engine with slight road
dirt noted. Upfront independent Macphereson suspension provides a
smooth ride both on and off road, and on back an independent coil
spring suspension does the same. Power disc brakes are all
around.
Drive-Ability
A quick startup and it was off to the mountains of Morgantown,
(well at least our test track), where it performed flawlessly. All
functions were working just swimmingly, including an off track
excursion to test the 4 x 4 which also worked like a charm. Nice
comfortable cruise too, so you can be assured of a good ride even
if it is on a paved surface.
A 1 owner truck, nicely maintained, and babied (I don't think it
was ever on a trail), and some custom paint and airbrush work to
boot. Loaded with luxury, this capable SUV is ready to tackle most
trails and also the urban jungle and you'll be "Sit'n Pretty"!
