Vehicle Description
Clean F150 4x4. 57,045 original miles. Loaded XLT with A/C, power
windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt, dual fuel tanks, and
more. Everything works, runs and drives quite well, very clean west
coast truck. Ready to work or play! The F150 has been the
standard-bearer for light trucks for decades, and the 1990s
versions are the ones that cemented that reputation in the public's
mind. Cleanly styled but not flashy, muscular without being comical
(I'm looking at you, Dodge Ram), and completely ready for just
about any job you could throw at it, the F150 might be the ultimate
working person's tool. This super clean 1996 F150 4x4 spent the
entirety of its life on the west coast, being delivered new in
Buellton, California. It doesn't appear that it ever really had to
work for a living and aside from the hardware for a fifth wheel
hitch in the bed, it's pretty much as the factory built it. The
Oxford White paint is original and in fantastic shape with no
evidence of wrecks and certainly no rust or rot. Typical of these
trucks, panel fit is quite good and the doors close with a
reassuring precision that is unexpected in a utilitarian machine
like this. The XLT package also includes plenty of bright chrome,
including bumpers and grille, all of which remains in excellent
condition. Subtle '4x4' decals on the sides of the bed are the lone
advertisement that this is an off-road capable machine and the bed
is protected by a drop-in bedliner so dirty jobs are not an
issue. The blue interior is handsome and comfortable with a bench
seat that looks like a pair of buckets with a wide drop-down center
armrest between them. It wears matching blue seat covers over the
original upholstery, which has a few splits due to age but nothing
critical. Matching blue carpets are in good shape with protective
rubber mats on top and the dash hasn't been cooked by the west
coast sun. There's a full array of gauges to monitor the engine and
this XLT is loaded with cold A/C, power windows and locks, cruise
control, tilt steering column, and a decent AM/FM/cassette stereo
head unit. Other extras include dual gas tanks for bladder-bursting
range on the highway and a trailer brake controller under the dash.
The shifter on the floor controls the dual-range transfer case.
Despite nearly 30 years of progress, this is still a comfortable
place to spend some time.Power comes from Ford's legendary 5.0
liter V8, which should last practically forever with proper
maintenance. It's torquey and energetic and moves the big white
pickup with deceptive ease-you will likely find yourself going 10
MPH faster than expected on the highway. It remains completely
stock and shows plenty of evidence of properly care over the years.
Thanks to electronic fuel injection, it fires quickly and easily,
idles properly, and pulls with enthusiasm even with a load in the
bed. The AOD 4-speed automatic transmission features an overdrive,
which combines with 3.55 rear gears to make for an easy highway
cruiser that gets acceptable fuel mileage. With 4-wheel-drive, it's
capable in the snow or off-road, and thanks to auto-locking hubs,
it's easy to engage on the fly. It's quite clean underneath with
only surface scale on the heavy metal parts, and we believe it is
still exhaling through its original exhaust system. Polished
aluminum wheels look great and carry beefy 31x10.50-15 truck
radials that are a great compromise between highway comfort and
off-road capable.Documentation includes a Marti Report.Like a lot
of folks, this truck will probably look like an old friend to you.
It's simple yet effective, comfortable yet capable, all the things
you'd want from a pickup. Add in 4-wheel-drive and you have an
all-weather machine that'll go almost anywhere and do it in style.
