Rarity, power, and flair are all part of what makes the 2014 Ford
Mustang Hertz Penske GT so awesome. After all, it's hard not to get

Only available in 2014, these were developed in the grand tradition
of the Hertz Shelby cars. And so where Shelby was an active racing
team in 1966, this one was crafted by Team Penske for a modern race
team to create a modern classic. While these had a mean look, keen
eyes could also tell they also celebrated the best in performance
pony cars. That means a Boss 302 style front chin spoiler, and the
rear valance and spoiler of the GT500. And the racing stripes have
the iconic triple rocker stripe done in Hertz yellow, and the
over-the-top stripe is offset like the emblem on a GT350. Fog
lights in the grille, a vented hood, and upgraded 19-inch alloys
complete this district GT performance package. These were made for
the Hertz Adrenaline Collection, and white that's a sporty name, in
reality, these were expensive cars that were monitored closely. So
while the name brings up mental images of weekend warriors, its
brief time in the fleet was likely more about red carpet
appearances. It has even been given a partial respray to make sure
the black paint retains a good luster.
The interior continues the special feeling with upgrades like
Laguna Seca gauge package on top of the dash, special Penske GT
floor mats, and special illuminated door sills. Plus, you have an
individually numbered plaque on the center console and a
verification decal in the door jamb. One of the reasons why these
were more about being a premium cruiser during the rental days is
because they are also loaded with just about everything you could
find in the GT Premium order book. This includes dual-zone
automatic A/C climate control, air conditioning, cruise control,
power windows, power locks, power steering, keyless entry/alarm,
and a touchscreen infotainment system. And you have awesome driver
features with the sports steering wheel on tilt/telescopic column,
the full gauge package that mixes retro-cool dials with a digital
info screen, and it even has the ultra-desirable Recaro seat
option.
The Coyote V8 has the iconic 5.0 displacement, but it's a true
powerhouse for the modern age. With four cams, 32-valves,
5.0-liters, and 420 horsepower it is a truly awesome motor. So it's
great to see this one so cleanly presented in the engine bay. And
because this was properly upgraded by Team Penske, there are power
enhancements including a cold-air intake, a re-tuned ECU, and an
upgraded performance exhaust with a terrific rumble. The six-speed
automatic transmission is an ideal pairing that lets you cruise for
everyday comfort or take control with the shift buttons. The
suspension was also upgraded with the Ford Racing package and
optional 3.55 rear end. So it feels confident on the road. Plus,
control is well in hand with Brembo four-wheel disc brakes backed
up by grippy ZR-rated tires.
