1957 Ford Skyliner
This car was originally purchased in Selma, CA from Hinch Motors by a Dr. Lorenz. He owned the car up into the early 80's when he sold the car to the Baughn family, also in California. They cared for and enjoyed the car until the mid 90's when it was sold to a collector in the Chicago area named Nolan. He didn't drive it much at all and it was primarily kept in his garage as part of a collection to look at more than drive. In 2014 the car was sold to an Olson in CT and just recently was sold to the current owner, Dave. Dave always loved the Skyliners and in selling another car, he was finally able to make that dream happen. Unfortunately, he didn't get to enjoy the car fully as he passed away recently, however, he did get the car out to shows and drove it a bit. I am assisting the family in selling this wonderful, original car.
The car still wears it's original Colonial White paint and black and white vinyl interior. Both show some signs of their 65 years but both still look really good. The engine was rebuilt in 1992 by the Baughn family. With only 48,000 miles on the car, it is unknown why they had the engine rebuilt.
When the Doctor ordered the car, he had it optioned with power steering, power brakes, the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, radio, back up lights and a fresh air heater. The car also had the 292 ci 2 bbl Y block V8 which reportedly puts out about 200 HP and 300 lb ft of torque. It puts that power to the ground via a 9" rear set up from the factory with 3.56-1 gears.
When the 4th owner had the car, he got the car up and running smoothly again by performing a full tune up, new power steering hoses, Monroe shocks at all four corners, new motors for the power hard top and brakes.
When Dave bought the car, he had a new dual exhaust installed along with a new battery and had some paint correction done. The original paint indeed has some imperfections.. you would too if you were 65 years old ... however, after the paint correction, buffing and ceramic application, the paints shines beautifully.
The car is super solid, no rot, the frame is clean and there is only some minor surface rust in the trunk. She runs and drives great; everything works as it should. All the lights, wipers, horn, etc. operate correctly... even the AM radio! The top is a one pull/push handle operation - Pull it out and hold to fold the top down into the truck, push it in to bring the top back up.
These are absolutely awesome cruising vessels and always gather crowds when parked.
The family has a firm price of $33,000 on her.
Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to meet her in person, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for the interest.
