Vehicle Description
1959 Chevrolet 3100 ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION The block has a casting
number confirms it is correct for a 283ci V-8 GM pickup built
between 1958 and 1962. The GM manual transmission has three forward
speeds with rare factory overdrive and shifts smoothly in all
gears. It is restored to a very high standard cosmetically, with
correct light-green paint on the engine. The rest of the engine bay
is equally sanitary and fresh. EXTERIOR This Apache was originally
finished in Cardinal Red and Bombay Ivory and respectively
refinished in its original colors on the exterior and extends to
the engine bay. The paint is in near perfect condition, with no
swirls or blemishes. There is no rust reported on this Apache.
Every item on the exterior of the truck, including the bumpers and
all badges and trim, have been either restored or replaced. The
present chrome work presents as being in excellent condition. The
cargo bed has new oak flooring planks with black coated retaining
hardware. The tailgate has new brackets, chains and black
protective material. All of the cab glass was replaced during the
restoration, and the exterior lighting is fully functional. The
undercarriage, including the frame rails, crossmembers and rear
axle, presents as nearly spotless. INTERIOR Every item and
component in the interior has been either restored or replaced. The
cab's bench seat is now covered with cloth/vinyl facings that
complement the Apache's exterior paint scheme. The cab's rubber
floor mat is new, as is the headliner, which includes a working
dome light. The body-color steel dashboard presents as being in
excellent condition. All small controls look to be as new. The
chrome-trimmed instrument nacelle also looks to be in very good
condition. All of the instruments are functional with the exception
of the factory AM radio, which remains in the dash. The cab's seals
and weather stripping were replaced with new items at the time of
the restoration. CHASSIS This Apache rides on Firestone wide
whitewall tires (plus a bed-mounted spare) that are in as-new
condition, mounted on 15-inch steel disc wheels that appear to be
in perfect condition. Topping the wheels are small year-correct
wheel covers with beauty rings that appear to be in excellent
shape. A variety of major suspension components were replaced
during the restoration. No issues are reported with either the
manual steering or manual drum brakes. The shock absorbers and
chassis bushings are in excellent condition. Frame-off restoration
