Vehicle Description
STK 3175 1952 Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner Hardtop
After various unsuccessful partnerships, the first Studebakers
manufactured solely by the Studebaker Automobile Company were
marketed in 1912. Over the next 50+ years, the company established
a reputation for solid quality and reliability. This 1952
Studebaker Champion Regal Line Starliner hardtop has been restored
to its original glory. It has also been researched by the
Studebaker National Museum and a document is furnished with the car
that replicates the Assembly Line Production Order. The exterior
was professionally re-sprayed in Studebaker Sand with an Olive
Green top (1997). These are the original colors and the car is
stunning. There is a generous allotment of chrome, steel wheels
w/full chrome discs and beautiful wide-white bias-ply rubber. The
interior was reupholstered in tan/brown cloth that is period
correct for the Studebaker. The classic '50s dashboard holds a full
compliment of gauges (speedometer inop) along with the original
radio that is on the blink right now - may need a tube. Door cards,
window glass, dash, headliner - everything is top-shelve. The
Champion is powered by Studebaker's 169.9ci flathead six-cylinder
rated at 85hp. The stamped engine number, 971,925, matches the
Museum's documentation. (The engine numbers of the Champion model
in 1952 were 911,501-1,004,001.) These long-stroke engines were
well known for their durability and low-end torque. It is believed
that this motor has never required a rebuild and it runs
beautifully - Studebaker flatheads are the quietest and this one is
superb. Everything under the hood looks original and the factory
6-volt electrical system works fine. The powerplant is backed by a
3-speed manual transmission with column shift. (This is the OD
transmission, but the OD is currently inop.) The braking system has
been seriously upgraded with manual front discs and a dual master
cylinder. This Champion Regal Line Starliner is an amazing example
of the Studebaker brand and belongs in your garage. ALL VEHICLES
SOLD "AS IS".
