For Sale: 1964 Pontiac GTO in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Distinction, comfort, and all-out power - that's what you get with this 1964 Pontiac convertible that has been expertly restored to be a faithful GTO tribute. And with the Tri-Power V8, four-speed stick-shift, rare power windows feature, and slick black exterior, you get the best of it all in one turn-key classic.

As you look over every inch of this convertible, you're going to be hard-pressed to find anything that doesn't look correct for the GTO (and so you really understand what we mean by a faithful tribute.) Plus, people will be too busy marveling at the paint to talk about anything else. This was said to be part of a high-quality restoration that was used for a private museum-like collection. So the black paint has the kind of depth that also stands up to the scrutiny of bright indoor lights. And that's why it looks awesome radiating gloss out in the sunshine. The outstanding paint also serves as a template to show you just how straight this body is. Deep black even is great to bring added attention to the contrasting brightwork. The chrome is impressive on the Wide-Track front end, hood vents, all the correct badging, rear bumper, and the rear trim strip that gives the taillights a nice presence (and that's what most people saw of these anyway!) There are also terrific details, like the snug-fitting black roof, smooth action of the doors, clear glass, and redline tires that give you a hint of the interior.

The GTO had a European-inspired name, and a red interior like this has a truly European level of style. Just like the exterior, the interior has the look of quality from all the right investments. This also has the rarely seen power windows options. So you can take down the glass and take down the top just from switches around the driver's seat. This loves being a true vintage machine, and so you've got great details, like the working courtesy lights, classic vacuum gauge, and the Delco AM radio that's still cranking out tunes. This also loves being a driver's convertible thanks to front bucket seats, a center console in-between, a floor shifter, a Pontiac sports steering wheel, and a rarely-seen tilt column feature. Keen eyes will notice the A/C but it currently requires work before it will be operational.

Pontiac's 389 cubic-inch V8 in the engine bay is what started the muscle car revolution. That's why we like to see it properly dressed in the Pontiac light blue block and shiny valve covers. But that's not what really caught your attention. Instead, you and everyone else will be marveling at the triple set of dual-barrel carburetors for Pontiac's famous Tri-Power. It's a V8 that fires up eagerly, and the dual exhaust gives a growl that'll make people think there's a tiger under the hood. The motor is mated to a four-speed manual for the best in all-around performance. Out on the road, this one has power steering, power brakes, and front discs for all-around good driving.

The sale comes complete with the owner's manual and service manuals. You're looking at a speedy drop-top Pontiac with all the right features - including some rarely seen ones. And it has all been restored to the kind of standard that turns your garage into a museum. So you might want to hurry to get at the front of the line for this one. Call today!!!
