Some history for Datsun enthusiasts: Datsun was made in Japan starting in 1911 by Japanese engineer Masujiro Hashimoto. DAT means lightning fast and also stands for Durable, Attractive, and Trustworthy. American engineer William Gotham was also involved in the development of the this motor (Nissan formerly Jidosha Seizo Co.). In 1934, Datsun began to be exported to other countries in Asia, Latin America, Australia and others. In 1981 they stopped using Datsun; 20 million Datsuns were sold in 190 countries. In March 2012, the Datsun brand was reintroduced by Nissan. The Datsun Brand is supported and loved by many worldwide.

Prior to 1970, Japanese cars in America were viewed as cheap economy cars that you hoped would inexpensively get you from point A to point B. However, the Datsun helped change popular opinion with bold styling and outstanding performance. It went from 0 to 60mph in 7.8 seconds and had a top speed of 125mph which was better than the Porsche 911 Turbo and Jaguar E-type while having a sticker half the price of the latter two.
