Vehicle Description
Part car, part truck, and part woody wagon - this 1971 Ford
Ranchero Squire is all cool. It's a rare premium coupe/pickup with
a comfy A/C interior, proper V8 power, and one of the best styles
of the era.
The Ranchero followed the more muscle car styling of the Torino
styling, and so that same flair went to the truck sibling. That
meant a long front end that's aggressively pointed and a wide
grille with quad headlights. The sporty style is even turned up a
notch with GT-style features like the hood scoop, and Magnum 500
wheels. Of course, what's really interesting is the wood-like trim
of the Squire level Ranchero. The Marti Report confirms the
specific model, which means you're looking at one of less than
2,600 for 1971. That's particularly impressive considering Ford
made nearly 150k Mustangs in the same year! Since this is so
special, it's nice to have it cleanly presented with clean lines, a
good gloss, complete trim, and an overall look of a cruiser that
has been treated with respect.
The ginger color interior looks good against the earth tones of the
exterior. There's a clean look to the seat, door panels, dash, and
headliner. Even the carpet has a plush feeling of a fresh
investment. There is a terrific vintage cruiser attitude with the
dual-spoke steering wheel in the tilt column, a clean gauge panel,
and a speedometer as long as the horizon. Even the under dash
lights greet you when the door opens. There are upgrades, but they
are subtly done, like the AM/FM stereo with cassette under the dash
and the factory air conditioning now blowing cold with a newer
compressor and modern R134a refrigerant.
Under the hood is Ford's mighty 351 cubic-inch V8. It looks good
with the blue block, newer plug wires, and polished alternator.
There's also added power from the Holley four-barrel carburetor,
Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, and Accel billet distributor. It's
a nice V8 package that makes a sweet tune out of the H-pipe dual
exhaust. Plus, there are nice suspension upgrades like a recently
rebuilt front end and an added rear sway bar. The three-speed
automatic transmission is a smooth shifter with a recent fluid
flush. Plus, with power steering, wide BF Goodrich T/As, and power
brakes w/discs up front, this Ranchero is an easy driver.
The sale comes complete with the Marti Report, owner's manual,
vintage sales literature, and other paperwork. This is the rare and
distinct Ranchero Squire that's been given the right care and
investment to remain an awesome cruiser. Don't miss this deal, call
