Vehicle Description
An automotive masterpiece, this magnificent 1957 Cadillac Eldorado
Biarritz convertible received a no expense spared, concours-grade,
frame off restoration with over $325,000 spent and over 2500 hours
of labor. The car retains it extremely rare color combination. One
of only two cars from the factory painted in "Tuxedo
Combination"
Ebony Black,
with
professionally restored, lush Kiowa Red leather interior and white
convertible top to match the
wide
whites accenting the Eldorado Biarritz only
chrome saber wheels. This work of art on
four wheels is
jeweled in new chrome from the
curvaceous rear end to the
massive front bumper
with
large Dagmar accents.
This extensive restoration included complete mechanical restoration
including drive train rebuild of the original dual quad 365ci V8
engine, original 4-speed automatic transmission and
factory rear-end.
The Eldorado Biarritz was considered to be one of the most
exclusive motor cars to own during the 1950s, and this example is
even more unique because of this rare, elegant, Tuxedo color
combination. Restyled and at the top of GMs model lineup, there
were approximately 1,800 of these cars built during 1957, and this
car's frame-off restoration has only
a few hundred break-in miles since completion.
With 1957 being the final year for the single headlamp grille, some
of the other changes for the Biarritz
bodies were: redesigned rear fenders with inboard angled fins, a
split rear bumper with rolled rear panel akin to the Cadillac
"Interceptor" prototype, a three-piece front bumper design with
centered grille and special gold-tone Eldorado lettering and
V-crests. The name Biarritz appeared on the rear quarters and
paired spears were mounted on each of the front fenders.Underneath
the hood is powerful dual-quad 365 CI V-8 engine, featuring inline
4-barrel carburetors and a batwing air cleaner. It is backed by the
correct automatic 3
speed transmission and well optioned
with power
assisted steering and power brakes which were standard. This cabin
design itself is deluxe by any standard with new well-cushioned red
leather power seats, power windows, electronic trunk release and
the unique autronic eye headlamp dimming system. The body lines
are
complemented by a black fiberglass parade boot. The paint scheme
and chrome trim only enhance the cars shapely design and classic
curves, giving this a deep sense of respectability. This car
rolls
on chrome Sabre
wheels with cast Cadillac center caps and wide whitewall tires,
with a full-size saber spare seated down into the trunk well. This
car has a copy of its original GM build sheet and is
matching-numbers where applicable. The Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
continued to be the convertible everyone wanted to be seen in
during 1957. That truth continues down to the present day when
considering the rarity of this iconic Cadillac.
