Vehicle Description
1967 Ford F100 Pickup
The current F-series as we know it has been the bestselling truck
for 45 consecutive years and for 40 of those years it was the
best-selling vehicle overall in America. Believe it or not, it
wasn't until 1959 that the original F-100 got factory four-wheel
drive. And last but not least the front bumper was the longest
running unchanged component for the entire F-series from 1959-1979.
WOW!
For consignment, a very nice and very cool truck right out of 1967.
Lots of nice trim, decent exterior paint with slight markings from
expected use, but certainly nothing terrible, meticulous
maintenance performed, many upgrades to turn this truck into a
great daily driver that turns heads wherever you go, and an
aftermarket overdrive unit added to keep the rpm's low and conserve
some fossils. While our consignor states this is a driver truck,
our well-trained eyes lead us to believe this truck is capable of
being driven daily during the week then winning shows on the
weekend.
Exterior
Retired from hauling duty and fully restored this truck has no rust
thanks to a liberal application of rust proofing, straight panels
and a few areas of paint scratches and surface markings, but it is
from wholesome use. Nice trim runs the length of the truck breaking
up the Wimbledon White and Lunar Green on the midline and another
spear as well the rockers and wheel well surrounds. A
well-preserved front grille and bumper are leading the way.
Extra-large towing mirrors are on both doors and shiny brightwork
frames the drip sills and glass which gives way to a snappy
Wimbledon White roof. Bringing up the rear is another nice bumper,
and a Ford logo embossed in the green and white tailgate. Dual
exhaust tips peek out from behind each rear wheel. The bed remains
nice with its Lunar Green paint and shows signs of usage but no
abuse. 15-inch steel wheels are wrapped by 215/75R15 thin whitewall
tires.
Interior
Climbing past nice door panels with a mix of Lunar Green steel and
dark green plastic and a beautiful chrome surround in black we
climb into the dark green cobblestone pattern tuck and roll vinyl
inserted seats in with smooth green vinyl bolsters. This bench is
very nice with no tears or even wear showing and has some nice
chrome dress up to cover the hinges. A look to the dash, and we
note the factory gauge panel with its mix of black and shiny chrome
bezels and the factory AM radio installed just above the heater
control knobs. The dash top is crack free padded green vinyl. Deep
dark green carpet in good condition floods the floor. Above a
simple gray perforated panel makes up the headliner.
Drivetrain
A 352ci V8 resides in the cavernous engine bay which powers a
3-speed manual transmission with the help of a 2-barrel carburetor.
A Dana 44 rear axle puts power to the blacktop. This engine bay
looks more like that of an award-winning show truck with its mix of
black, Lunar Green, and Ford blue covering the engine. We also note
a Gear Vendors overdrive unit installed behind the factory 3 speed
gearbox to give us low cruising rpms at highway speed.
Undercarriage
This truck shows very well underneath with some road dirt and only
hints of surface rust on the frame and suspension components with
all else being covered in black rustproofing. Dual exhaust with
Cherrybomb glasspack mufflers expel burnt fossils to the rear of
the truck and power front disc brakes work in conjunction with rear
power drums for proper stopping power throughout the topography of
rural Pennsylvania. A twin I-beam and coil spring front suspension
gives a nice ride and for the rear we see traditional leaf springs.
Nice and tidy would describe the undercarriage best. Of special
note is added correct Ford power steering, new front radius arm
bushings, new rear wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, a new oil pan
gasket and a new rear main seal on the engine.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and smooth idler, a tickle of the gas pedal and
we're off! This truck runs very nicely, shifts smoothly, corners
nicely, and has a fairly smooth ride. The interior is comfortable,
which is to be expected because Ford had the theory that their
trucks were workers on the outside, but car-like interiors would
rule. All functions were working during our drive and the note of
the V8 more than makes up for the limited AM radio reception.
An eye-catching example of the F-100, certainly not perfect, but
it's a truck that can show as well as double as a daily driver.
With tons of recent maintenance and service done along with a
complete front-end alignment we have a well running, and snazzy
looking, and all rust free. Right here at Classic Auto Mall
