The new six-cylinder 911, conceived as the successor to the much-loved four-cylinder 356, was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show (as the 901) in the fall of 1963, and it went into series production one year later. However, Peugeot raised objections to the new name, claiming rights to all three-digit car names with a zero in the middle. With the simple change of a number, the fabled “911” was born. It remains, after over 50 years, one of the purest automotive designs in history.

The magnificent 1965 Porsche 911 Sunroof Coupe featured here is finished in stunning Polo red over black leatherette interior and is fitted with nearly every available option, including factory sunroof and Webasto gas heater. This incredible motorcar has had just 2 meticulous owners from new and is among one of the best examples you will find on the market today.  Chassis number 302946 was built in November 1965 and delivered to its first owner via the Porsche European Delivery program on November 26, 1965, and then purchased by its second and final owner in 1972. While under the care of its second and last owner, 302946 was restored over a three-year period by a Marquis specialist and is now ready to be shown or driven. In speaking with the second owner, I was made aware that the original owner who is now 91 years of age is still around and going strong. Incredible opportunity to acquire a fully documented investment-grade early 1965 Porsche 911 Sunroof Coupe that checks all the boxes! Matching numbers engine, known history from new, highly optioned, and beautifully restored. I personally believe the investment potential of this early Porsche 911 will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who will settle for nothing but the best!
