Vehicle Description
This 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Cheyenne Restomod is exactly the kind of
truck you would build for yourself if money or time were no object.
An upgraded, fuel-injected heart transplant by way of a 6.2L LS V8
under the hood, power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes, a
comfortable A/C interior, and a period-perfect paint job that lets
the original C-10 styling speak for itself. This is a no-excuses
truck in every way.
Beautifully finished in attractive and period-correct white and
blue livery, this longbed pickup looks like it's dressed up for a
night out on the town, not a set of coveralls for work. The classic
shape of the Glamour Line C-10 is undeniably attractive, but when
it's wrapped in high-quality bodywork and a glossy two-tone paint
job, it's downright arresting. Look at the reflections in the
body's surfaces; there's not a ripple or distortion anywhere, which
only means that someone spent a TON of time and money making it
look that way. It does have a few minor signs of use and an
imperfection or two to speak of, but it still shows incredibly well
and a weekend spent with a claybar and buffer would easily kick
things back up a notch or two. Even as it sits, this is one of the
nicer longbed C-10s you'll likely ever find, with off-the-charts
curb appeal punctuated by that deep, glossy finish that has it
ready to dominate the local cruise night. All the Cheyenne-style
trim remains, including the cool black molding on the lower body
and tailgate and the spear trim above that separate the colors, all
of which are remarkably well preserved or nicely done
reproductions, while the egg crate-style front grille and custom
bumper with integrated running lights really sets the tone up
front. The inside of the bed was painted with thick, durable
high-gloss black paint, and even though it shows a couple dings
here and there (obviously, this truck likes to work and can handle
just about anything), it still presents well and was lined with a
thick rubber mat for further protection. Whether you're looking to
put this C-10 to work or drive it to dinner on a Saturday night,
it's up to the task.
The upscale theme continues in the cab where just about everything
was restored back to stock specs, albeit with a couple creature
comforts added for good measure. A highly detailed black bench seat
is all-day comfortable, and the detailed cloth-and-vinyl upholstery
matches the Cheyenne-spec door panels with their integrated
Western-scroll accents up top. Black carpets make it feel plush
from behind the wheel, as does the dash pad on top of the blue
steel dash, which is filled with an array of stock-style
instruments just ahead of the driver. A big, three-spoke steering
wheel was added to the cockpit and feels great in the hands of the
river, and other creature comforts include Vintage Air A/C (needs
service) with controls mounted just below a modern AM/FM/CD/AUX
head unit that handles the tunes, and newer seatbelts were
installed for the bench seat. Power steering and power brakes
ensure a comfortable ride every time out, and the big back window
in the rear gives the cabin a cool, fish-bowl feel inside.
The engine is a fuel-injected 6.2L LS V8, which is such a neat fit
in this Action Line's engine bay it looks like it was practically
born there. The blacked-out engine is dominated by that menacing LS
intake flanked by custom 'Cheyenne 6.2' valve covers, and a
polished cold air intake tube up front topped with a coned filter
helps suck in cold air. The firewall was blacked-out, the inner
fenders were painted blue to match the exterior, and all the
polished and detailed chrome-and-black components around the block
really make this engine bay show-ready. Power steering and power
4-wheel disc brakes are included, and with fuel injection, it
starts instantly, idles smoothly, and has an awesome torque curve
that makes it a blast to drive, while the big aluminum radiator up
front keeps the modern block nice and cool. Backed by a TH350
3-speed automatic transmission and heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end,
it's still ready and willing to work. It's nimble, too, with an
upgraded front clip, while the rear is held up with heavy-duty leaf
springs and upgraded shocks. A custom exhaust system with
Flowmaster mufflers gives the LS V8 a unique voice, with dumpouts
just behind the mufflers, and despite the upgraded hardware the
builders elected to give the truck a more traditional, low-slung
stance that we absolutely love. Period-perfect Rally wheels look
right and totally stuff the wheel-wells with fat Uniroyal Tiger Paw
white-letter radials acting as the perfect endcaps.
