Vehicle Description
This 1989 Ford Mustang LX Convertible has a rare color, loaded A/C
interior, and a terrific price. So it's great to find a local-owned
drop-top of distinction.
This is a great local find. We're told it was sold new less than
two hours from our showroom, and the Charlotte DSO confirms its
local heritage. This also has a low number of owners, and possibly
all in the same family. All of that adds distinction to this
Mustang, and so it's great to have it in a distinctive color. The
Mimosa Yellow was only offered for two years, and it sets the tone
right for this car. After all, we love a GT in black or red, but
this is an LX trim that likes to be a bit more sophisticated. So
it's a drop-top with the tropical kind of color that feels like
this one could be sent to a Caribbean town and fit right in. The
majority of the finish shows all the right signs of being the
original factory application. It's not perfect 30+ years later, and
so you can use some of the value price to invest in a respray if
you so desire. But we like how this shows its originality while
still retaining the right gloss to show off the quality panel fit.
Also, the yellow is a great way to highlight the distinct black
accents like the rear luggage rack, sport mirrors, trim, and the
rubber rub strip that encircles the car. The black convertible top
coordinates with this package, and since it has a crisp and clean
style, this convertible look good even with the roof is in
place.
As much as we like the look of this one with the top up, it looks
even better when you take it down. That's because the tan interior
has a harmonizing tone with the yellow exterior. There's even a
matching convertible boot. This one was built to be an easy
cruiser, and so you'll appreciate how the cloth upholstery won't
sizzle your legs on a hot day. And this luxury LX has the best
features like power mirrors, power locks, a center console, and an
upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with CD changer in the trunk. Power
windows and a power convertible top allow you to open this one up
without ever leaving the driver's seat. And the cold-blowing air
conditioning lets you stay cool even on those sunny days you're
driving along the beach road.
Under the hood is the 2.3-liter four-cylinder motor. It's unknown
if the odometer reflects the car's full mileage, but the
presentation here looks quite stock and correctly maintained. This
is a fuel-injected unit, and so it starts, runs, and drives, with
the kind of modern ability you want in a true cruiser. Plus, this
was the kind of motor that found its way into the SVO coupes and
turbo T-birds of the era. We don't know if you're thinking about
upgrading to some turbocharged fun in this cruiser, but it does
remind us of its hardy nature. And we like how this one is built to
be an easy driver with comfortable features like power steering,
power brakes, and front discs. You even have cruise control and a
four-speed automatic transmission with highway-ready overdrive for
longer road trips.
This is a local drop-top with plenty of distinct. So if you're
looking to drive a loaded and well-priced convertible that gets you
noticed, you don't want to miss this Mustang. Call now!
