Period GMC Pickup Truck magazine ad headline Hagerty characterized
the attractive design of these GM pickups this way: Whether
Chevrolet or GMC, the General's third-generation, 'square-body'
trucks were a dramatic departure from the company's previous
efforts. The third-gen models featured squared-off front and rear
fascia, subtle body contours honed by wind-tunnel testing, a more
accommodating and ergonomic interior... a style decades ahead of
its time. Offered here is a refreshed and upgraded 1984 GMC C1500
short-bed pickup in bright blue over black-and-blue. The high
quality and careful planning of the stylish refresh is evident, and
the truck has traveled just 3,105 miles since the completion of the
work. The exterior bright blue paint shows well across every
surface, with no indication of fading or other damage. There is no
damage to any sheet-metal body panel; no dings and no dents. (To
best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to
view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying
gallery.) A black, hard-plastic cargo-area liner is installed to
protect that area of the truck. There is some evidence of regular
use on the cargo bed. The truck's front grille looks nearly new,
and the tailgate is free of emblems or embossing. That clean look
out back is further enhanced with the removal of the rear bumper.
The chrome front bumper is in excellent condition with minimal
patina. With the exception of the GMC emblem in the front grille,
all other badging and identification has been removed with mounting
holes properly filled for an overall shaved look. Lighting lenses
(including on the headlights and the custom taillights) and cabin
glass (including the tinted, fixed rear window) are perfectly clear
and undamaged. Ridler® 5-spoke, dark-finish, 20-inch wheels are
mounted with performance tires. The truck's new front disc brakes
with drilled and slotted rotors and red brake calipers can be seen
through the open wheel design. Inside, the refeshed stock theme
continues. A stylish statement is made on the black dashboard face
which a crocodile-skin-look applique. Lower portions of the metal
dash are painted in the body color. The fresh, black-vinyl seat
upholstery is a particularly appealing classic look. (Please view
the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the condition of
the Jimmy's various interior surfaces.) The stock leather-wrapped,
4-spoke, black GMC-branded steering wheel frames the classic,
square-design, standard GM truck instrument cluster. However, all
gauges have been updated with digital-readout replacements.
Ventilation and heating controls are stock slide-levers. An
upgraded Sony® audio head unit is mounted in the factory-radio
location. The cabin sound system has been fully upgraded with added
components professionally mounted behind the bench seat. The shift
lever for the NewVentures® 3500 5-speed manual transmission is
floor-mounted. Fresh black cabin floor carpeting is protected with
rubber mats. Under the hood, a very clean 350-cubic-inch GM V8 has
been maintained in a well-ordered engine bay. An open-sided chrome
air cleaner and chrome valve covers add flair. All components
appear correctly mounted. In the same way, view
