For Sale: 1940 Ford Pickup in Manitowoc, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance.  We can assist with financing and shipping as needed.

The 1940 Ford represents one of the most beautiful pickup designs of all time, and this example is is a testament to that endearing platform.  With its classic lines, gorgeous curves, and Flathead power it’s a collectible that anyone can appreciate.

This truck is the product of an older restoration that started with a solid, rust-free specimen.  Work included a repaint in black along with cream highlights, lettering, and wheels.  My favorite feature on this design has to be how the front end flows so nicely through the grille, fenders, and hood.  Note too this one has the correct 1940 paint and chrome arrangement in front.  The bed has been redone with oak wood along with cream metal strips, and the tires are brand new Coker wide whites.

The rebuilt 221ci Flathead V8 purrs like a kitten.  It starts easily and runs smoothly.  The 3-speed manual transmission works as it should and is followed by the factory style torque tube and rear end.  The truck is quite easy to drive and feels good going down the road; hard to believe it’s 82 years old!  The truck retains its 6V positive ground electrical system along with its original style brakes, steering, and suspension (with many new parts throughout).  There is also an electric fuel pump in back to prime the system if it’s been sitting for a while.

The interior continues the stock theme.  The bench seat, headliner, and kick panels have all been redone in green while the balance is painted black.  The instrument cluster has been redone as well.  All gauges work as do the headlights, dash lights, and brake lights.  The heater fan works through the core is not connected.  The truck also has a functional horn, vacuum windshield wiper, and parking brake.  And finally the large original steering wheel and tall floor shifter really add to the driving experience.

These pre-war Fords are some of the most desirable pickups on the market.  There has been a lot of work done on this example which seems to have just the right look.  Get ready for lots of waves, smiles, and thumbs up in this one.
