This 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has been transformed into a
one-of-a-kind restomod. That means you have a custom exterior,
custom A/C interior, an upgraded suspension, and an awesome
fuel-injected LS1 under the hood.
If you're looking for a sleeper we suggest you look elsewhere. It's
not that this one is not overly brazen, but you'll never fly under
the radar with a custom hood that included 4th-gen style ram air
scoops. And the later spoiler has been expertly integrated as
another nod to the upgraded power in this coupe. Gold racing
stripes, hood pins, and polished American Racing Torq Thrust wheels
with an aggressive 16/17-inch front/rear stagger are all part of
the enhanced performance attitude. The burnt orange paint is a
later application that has a terrific metallic element to get this
restomod noticed. And the good gloss shows off the crisp body lines
that tell you this custom is also a well-respected classic. And
that's the overall impression of this one. It's custom and speedy,
but with quality in the details that let you know it was a true
enthusiast build.
The interior has some more cool references to the upgraded motor.
For example, F-body fans will recognize the 4th-gen Camaro seats
that were integrated both front and rear. But since this two-tone
gray fits well with the factory colors, others might just see it as
clean and comfortable upholstery. One clear advantage of this is
the driver's seat is now power-adjustable. There are more great
features, like power windows, power mirrors, and an upgraded
AM/FM/CD stereo. The T-tops let you open this one up to the world,
and cold-blowing air conditioning lets you enjoy this feature even
in the summer. Also, just like the exterior, you can all see the
extra care within the custom style from the little things, like the
working dome lights and the T-top storage bags. There's an upgraded
B&M shifter, and the Grant sports steering wheel is on a tilt
column to give you a clear view of the factory speedo and tach. And
now you also have auxiliary readouts on the A-pillar.
All the extra performance flair inside and out is earned when you
see what's under the hood. This gen Firebird was quite powerful,
but the next generation got the bedrock of modern performance: the
5.7-liter LS1 V8. So this one was upgraded correctly and done with
care. That's why it not only looks as good as if the factory did
the work, but also you have a large Be Cool aluminum radiator to
help keep the full package running cool. The 4L60E four-speed
automatic transmission is another great upgrade. It was designed to
handle the LS motor with a stout construction and quick kick-downs
into power, and it's also good at providing easy overdrive
cruising. This feeds a 12-bolt rear end with Moser diff cover. As
you look underneath, you'll spot more great updates, like a custom
frame brace, newer bushings, tubular rear arms, and an adjustable
Panhard bar. There's also power steering, modern sport tires, and
upgraded Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes with drilled & slotted
rotors.
This is the crisply beautiful 3rd-gen Trans Am with the 4th-gen LS1
heart you always wanted it to have. So don't let this custom
restomod slip away. Call today!!!
