The MGB is arguably considered the most successful sports car ever
produced out of England. If you have had the chance to enjoy one
from behind the wheel, it's easy to see why! The balance of power
and handling is inspiring for both beginner and seasoned drivers
alike! Once the wind is in your hair and the distinct MG exhaust
note is humming in your ear, the MG offers an experience that is
easy to get addicted to!
This beautiful 1966 MGB roadster is finished in British Racing
Green over Black vinyl upholstery with matching Black convertible
soft top! Powered by a high compression 1798cc 5-bearing engine
fitted with twin SU HS4 carburetion producing a factory rated 95
horsepower and impressive 110 lb. ft. of torque. It's mated to the
4-speed manual transmission and sporty 3.91 rear gearing. Features
include 14" painted wire spoke wheels wrapped in Vredstein 165HR14
radial tires, full tonneau/boot cover, wood steering wheel & MG
shift knob, dual outside mirrors, manual windshield washer, Smiths
gauges & heater, upgraded RetroSound AM/FM Bluetooth radio, and lap
belts!
This solid MGB was located by the former owners with an MG service
specialist in the Santa Ana, CA area where it was restored both
mechanically and cosmetically in approximately 2010. The battery
system has been converted to a single, negative ground 12-volt
set-up along with an alternator charging system. And the factory
disc brakes were upfitted with a vacuum power booster and dual
circuit master cylinder, while an auxiliary engine oil cooler and
6-blade fan help keep things cool under the hood. It would sell to
new owners in October 2017 in Elizabethtown, PA where it would
remain until the summer of 2021 when it traveled to a prominent
collector here in St. Louis. It continues to drive terrifically
with approximately 3,000 miles on the rebuilt drivetrain! A brand
new convertible top was just installed in March 2022.
These late Mark I examples are extremely sought after, and the
attractive chrome-bumpered 1966 model has been considered one of
the most desired. They feature push-button door handles, retain the
original style steel dash with toggle switches, have larger
12-gallon fuel tanks, and utilize an electronic tachometer. This
example will be sold with an owner's manual and radio instructions.
