Vehicle Description
This classic 1946 Dodge WC Canopy Truck is one of the coolest
classics around. After all, we bet you can't recall the last time
you saw a true classic that had a fully covered bed with roll-up
canvas sides. And since this is so memorable, your imagination is
already thinking about using it for everything from parades to
promoting your business.
A classic Dodge truck from the immediate post-WWII years is already
a rare sight. But you also instantly know it's a Dodge because the
bright crosshair grille distinctly leads the way, and it's a design
feature that you see on brand new Mopar pickups today. The black
finish seems to bring added attention to contrasting pieces, like
the bright chrome bumpers, red wheels, two-piece Dodge wheel
covers, and whitewall tires. And if you take a little more time
looking it over, you'll also appreciate details like the ribbed
ends of the fenders and the way the headlights are merged into the
style. And of course, there's something quite distinct about the
canopy roof that starts after the windshield and is tightly laid
out all the way to above the tailgate. In total, it's a clean
appearance, but it has the right fit and finish that lets you use
this as a cruising showpiece, as opposed to one that's too fancy to
enjoy. That attitude extends to the unique bed setup, too. Clean
sides and overlapping real wood are a solid and vintage base. You
could always make the lumber extra glossy or extra fancy. But the
way it looks right now makes it perfect to put a bale of straw back
there and spend the fall giving hayrides through the pumpkin
patch.
The cab has a great layout where it can be fully open to the bed
when you want it, or there is a canopy backing so that you can take
it down with the side and have a fully enclosed bed (like a true
classic delivery truck.) And no matter how you motor you get a true
classic feeling of a true classic pickup. You have simple/durable
bucket seats, a large three-spoke steering wheel, classic dash, and
a tall gearshift that all seems to transport your senses to 75+
years ago. In fact, the only upgrade you're likely to spot is the
provisions for a modern radio. It allows you to more easily wire in
a new stereo unit in case you feel like music for your hayride.
The straight-six motor is the correct type for this pickup and it
looks nicely preserved. So you'll love opening the butterfly hood
and showing off its faithful style. Everything has a high level of
authenticity, right down to the fabric-wrapped wires and the
generator. But there are also all the right signs to show that this
has been serviced properly to continue to be a faithful runner. The
motor gives a nice classic exhaust note, and the three-speed manual
transmission puts you in charge of it all.
There's a lot of fun and distinction in a rarely-seen 1946 Dodge
pickup with an even more seldom-seen canopy setup. You're already
thinking about all the ways you're going to enjoy this uniqueness,
and so you don't want to let that dream slip away. Call
