Vehicle Description
This 1966 Pontiac Catalina Ventura has to be one of the coolest
ways to get attention at the car shows. A bright and
factory-correct hardtop sedan with a big 389 V8 under the hood is
definitely an irresistible classic. There is so much nostalgic
originality inside and out that it perfectly captures a bygone
era.
We were told this is a three-owner car, the first two of which were
father and son. In fact, it's believed that this Pontiac spent
nearly a half-century under its first family's care. That's how you
get such a well-preserved total package. But this one also did not
let history sacrifice its style. The factory-correct Cameo Ivory
was given a high-quality respray in 2014 and has been treated with
respect ever since. The family heirloom level of attention means
the long lines of this hardtop sedan look terrific today. And when
you feel how well all four doors shut with authority, you'll
realize just how carefully this car was kept. The Wide Track face
up front and such a nicely integrated rear bumper give this the
right mix of intimidation and sophistication. So the upgrade to
Cragar 17-inch wheels and redline tires fit the era and attitude
nicely. Plus, all its trim, fender skirts, and other essential
details are present to make it a showstopper.
The full black interior has the appeal of formalwear, especially
with the level of loaded that comes on this sedan. The two wide
rows of bench seats have plenty of room for everyone, and it has a
terrific classic style with textured cloth inserts and button-top
seatbacks. This has a very vintage style but has a far fresh feel
from a proper investment, and the same goes for the carpeting.
Plus, the black door panels, headliner, and dash also look great
for an inviting atmosphere. Even the factory steering wheel even
fits into the color theme, and the translucent elements are all
part of that great time capsule feeling when individual style was
top priority at each automaker. You'll love how this one was built
to be a true premium classic with features like the AM/FM radio,
large auxiliary gauges, and cruise control. It even has the
distinct Automatic Temperature Control unit and provisions for air
conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) And
because this one is so well preserved and presented we love the
hardtop setup. It means you can roll down all the side glass and
let people get a really good look inside.
Pop the hood and see that great blue block radiating from inside
the engine bay. The 389 cubic-inch V8 with a dual-barrel carburetor
is the correct motor for this Catalina. It's the year-correct
block, and from the history that we were told about this car, it's
easy to believe this is the original powerhouse. We were also told
the engine was rebuilt in 2010, and the way this one fires up so
easily and runs so well reaffirms the feeling of good care and
investment. Add in a three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, power brakes, and modern touring tires, and this makes
for the perfect choice to float down the road on a Sunday
drive.
Complete with a reproduction window sticker, this is the
cool/classic/preserved/loaded sedan that's a mix of the best care
and the right investments. Call now!
