Vehicle Description
When it comes down to 'tuner' Mustangs, no other name stands as
tall as Jack Roush. The cars (and engines) bearing his legendary
name represent the pinnacle of Blue Oval performance, something
demonstrated in excellent form by this 2006 Ford Mustang Roush
Stage III. Wrapped in high-impact yellow paint, adorned with
Roush's body kit, and powered by a 4.6L Roushcharged V8, this
gorgeous Pony practically screams 'look at me' while it hammers
past you.
If you're going to have the nastiest, fastest Mustang on the block,
why not paint it bright yellow? By 2006, the Roush cars were fully
developed, and that included a few body modifications that blend in
so well that it's almost impossible to spot them without a stock GT
sitting next to it. Up front there's a blacked-out grille with
integrated foglights, ground effects incorporated into the sporty
bumper, and a vented hood with a big scoop on top; nothing gaudy,
mind you, just very functional-looking. Rocker extensions mirror
the front effects and a slick 3-piece spoiler on the deck
emphasizes the Mustang's fastback profile. Roush graphics and
badges are another reminder that this is no ordinary Mustang, just
in case the big wheels and stance didn't tip you off, and there's
nothing quite like the look of black LeMans style stripes
off-setting yellow paint. Black and yellow, hello! Of course, with
only 55K miles, this one is still in very nice shape, not so
perfect that you'll be afraid to terrorize the streets, but
certainly clean enough to turn heads out on Main Street. There are
a couple touch-up spots here and there, along with a few scuffs on
the lower portion of the body and wheels, but overall this Mustang
still presents very well in person - with a bright shine on the
finish, factory panel fit, and door that shut flush. This is still
a car that can make mortal muscle cars run and hide.
Anchored by a set of grippy two-tone bucket seats, the interior is
a serious place for doing the business of driving fast. The
original black leather buckets wear bright yellow inserts with Jack
Roush's top-of-the-line 'Stage 3' embroidery, and the result
totally transforms the Mustang's driver's compartment. You also get
upgrades like special 'Stage 3' white-faced gauges, a trick
short-shifter for the 5-speed manual gearbox, and matching two-tone
rear seats. The leather upholstery up front shows some minor
comfort marks commensurate with a 55K mile car, but there are no
rips or tears (even though I imagine there have been severely
tightly-clenched rear ends inside these buckets), the black carpets
are plush, and the simple door panels at the flanks are in great
shape as well. A sporty leather-wrapped steering wheel atop a tilt
column anchors the cabin, matching the racing pedals in the floors,
and the chrome trim around the gauges and A/C vents add some pop to
the otherwise black dash. The Mustang's features list includes
powerful A/C, power seats, windows, locks, and mirrors, cruise
control, and a thundering aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo
system that powers speakers stashed throughout the cabin. Out back,
the trunk is simple and plain but features plenty of room to handle
most travel plans.
Under the hood, the customary powerplant of the 2006 Mustang GT- a
4.6 liter V8 - is accompanied by Roush's own supercharger (aka the
Roushcharger), bringing an already potent power output to a new
level - a reported 415 horsepower and 385 lb./ft. of torque. The
Stage 3 package also includes a number of suspension upgrades whose
impact is evident right away, including specially engineered front
struts and rear shocks, and beefier front and rear sway bars. Rest
assured that all of the improved cornering ability that results
doesn't come at the expense of comfort - you'll find that the ride
quality is surprisingly smooth. Featuring a set of massive 14"
rotors up front, the enhanced power 4-wheel power disc brake system
is more than up to the task of bringing things to a stop in short
order. All that amplified performance capability combines with
light but responsive pedal action and relatively short shifting
throws on the 5-speed manual transmission to provide an easy yet
exhilarating driving experience. This outstanding Big Bird Mode
Mustang sits on a set of 18" Roush rims, outfitted with grippy
BFGoodrich performance radials that are ready for combat.
