-Period Chevrolet truck magazine advertisement The above-quoted
magazine ad went onto trumpet the Chevy pickup's computer-matched
brakes (front disc brakes and finned-drum rear brakes are
automatically computer-matched to gross vehicle weight); tough
ladder-type frame (design allows low cab mounting, easy entry);
counter-angled rear shocks (to help reduce brake and power hop);
long vehicle life (95.7% of all Chevy trucks in the ten most recent
model years were still on the job.); and longer service intervals
(30,000 miles between spark plug changes, 7,500 miles between oil
changes and chassis lubrication, 30,000 miles between air cleaner
elements). The ad summed it all up with the Chevy truck theme:
Built to Stay Tough. The '87 Chevy K10 offered here is compelling
proof of truth in advertising: a resurrected, lifted, restored,
refreshed, and substantially upgraded, 35-year-old classic
short-bed Chevy pickup that looks nowhere near its age. This
California K10 didn't just stay tough, this truck actually got a
lot tougher, this despite an odometer that has exceeded mechanical
limits and rolled over. The white paint on the properly lifted body
is a guaranteed eye-catcher. Truly a stunning 4-wheeler, this K 10
Silverado pickup is ready for show... or go. The truck's exterior
has benefitted from a recent professional respray in white. All
body panels-from the hood, across the roof, to the cargo box and
tailgate--display even high gloss and an absence of scratches,
dings, or dents. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim
finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the
car in the accompanying gallery.) Chrome bumpers front and rear are
in excellent condition; matching chrome wheel-arch and body-side
trim adds just enough flair. The truck's stock front grille shows
no damage or flaws. All other factory chrome trim-including door
handles and side mirrors- is in place and in excellent condition.
All factory badges and emblems are also in place-the gold bowtie
grille emblem, Silverado 10 front-fender emblems, cab-side bowtie
emblem on the brushed-metal cabin trim piece, and Chevrolet
lettering on the tailgate's brushed-metal trim (which shows a
single dent). The short-bed cargo box includes bed-liner protection
and is free of significant damage or wear. Cabin glass-including
the sliding rear window-and all lighting lenses are clear and free
of cracks. Stock silver-painted steel wheels with 4x4 center caps
and chrome trim rings are mounted with Toyo® 33x10.50 LT Open
Country M/T off-road tires. Inside the cab, the stock interior look
has been maintained but, like the rest of the truck, tastefully
upgraded across-the-board. Perfect-condition tan door trim includes
power-window controls, lower carpeted panels, and a vinyl door
pull. A stock Chevrolet-branded steering wheel in black frames a
padded brown dash with white-painted lower surfaces. The full stock
gauge package has been renewed; Instrument lenses are
crystal-clear, bezels are in chrome, and graphic markings are
perfectly crisp. The bench seat has been reupholstered in the
proper tan, vertically pleated vinyl. An Alpine® audio head unit is
mounted in the factory-radio location above stock slide-lever
controls for heat, ventilation, and air conditioning. The shift
lever for the automatic transmission is mounted on the column; the
transfer case selector lever i
