Vehicle Description
This 1985 Toyota Pickup SR5 4x4 is a tribute to a true dream truck.
After all, Marty McFly in Back to the Future got it in his ideal
life, and we bet you thought it could fit ideally in yours, too.
And because this is a freshly restored example of a sharp-looking
A/C pickup, you're as close to Marty as reliving the best of
1985.
It's not just that this truck is a faithful replica of Marty
McFly's 4x4 in Back to the Future, but the consignor states that
all of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Michael J. Fox
Foundation. So this is a replica that has an even larger feeling of
authentic purpose. In fact, it comes from a company that
specializes in creating the pickup from the movie. We're told it
was delivered to them as a one-owner truck out of California. It
was then given a full restoration that was completed earlier this
year. It's a detailed package that gets the best pieces, like the
lifted stance, 15-inch black wheels, tubular bumpers with bull bar
up front, a matching tubular steel bed roll bar, and two types of
KC lights. Heck, even the front license plate is a correct replica
with a Statler Toyota plate guard. What we also like about the full
package is that it is quite clean and glossy, but never meant to be
a pure museum piece. So you can enjoy taking it to the Lone Pine
Mall or driving your own Jennifer up to the lake.
The interior is loaded and well-presented. This Xtra Cab model
means more room to recline those bucket seats. It's a true time
capsule look everywhere from the dual-spoke steering wheel to the
unique SR5 cloth pattern in the seats. But a truck like this is
also out to remain useful. That's why they added the right upgrades
for modern enjoyment, like the AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth. And the
factory air conditioning is now blowing cold with modern R134a
refrigerant.
Under the hood is the fuel-injected 2.4-liter motor. This is an
actual miles pickup, but we're told that this was given a rebuild
as part of the restoration. It has the fresh and clean look of a
solid investment. We know a well-maintained 22R motor has a very
robust reputation, and this one fires up and runs with the kind of
feeling that reaffirms the right care. The undercarriage showcases
more of this truck's freshness everywhere from the painted frame to
the bright urethane bushings. The two-speed 4x4 transfer case
combines with the suspension lift and the meaty Goodyear Wrangler
tires to deliver a true go-anywhere attitude. But really, you know
this one is going to have its most fun showing it off to everyone
in town. So that's why you have easy driving features like power
steering, power brakes, and front discs. And we're glad to see a
proper five-speed example because part of the allure of these
earlier import trucks is the ability to get the most out of a small
but hardy powerhouse.
As you have probably seen from the pictures, the sale also comes
with plenty of terrific additions to make for a true Back to the
Future display. It includes Nike shoes, a hover board, Gray's
Sports Almanac, a color-shift hat, two sleeping bags, and of
course, the essential Save the Clock Tower flyer. You even have a
Statler Toyota banner to drape across the side for parades. This
replica has an awesome authenticity and a terrific cause. So if you
shared Marty McFly's dream of the best Toyota 4x4 around, you know
you need to open your garage to find this showcased inside.
